C70Bandit
I have a 2001 C70 Turbo, a couple of months ago my CEL came on and I checked the code, P0163. I replaced my #2 O2 sensor, erased the code and started my drive cycle. 30 miles in the CEL popped back on....P0163. I started to diagnose further, I checked for vacuum leaks and exhaust leaks that could throw it off, I checked the plug pins, I checked the wires for chaffing or grounding on the exhaust. I diagnosed it further and I think the problem is before the O2 Sensor. The DATSC Volvo site I used to diagnose the P0163 code said to check to make sure there is voltage at the plug where the O2 sensor plugs into the harness and should be around .450 volts, use a jumper wire to the ground pin in the plug and ground it to the chassis and it should go above .500. Mine was at .480 and when I grounded the proper pin in the plug there was no difference in the voltage. They said that indicated a problem with the ECM. I'm trying to find someone local to check the ECM so I don't have to mail it off. Any Ideas? Thanks
Fudge_Brownie
P0163 is O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 3) Is that right for a inline engine, single cat car, with 2 sensors? Shouldn't the rear sensor be P0137, O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2)? Who is 'they' regarding the suggestion of problem with the ECM? C70Bandit
BAAAAH!!! I transposed my numbers, it's P0136, O2 Sensor Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2. As SOON as I saw your reply start with the "P0163" I knew I screwed up. This is the "who" I referred to, DATSC....http://www.datsc.com/tabid/122/OBD-Error-Code/P0163/Diagnostics/Volvo/Default.aspx
Ihatespeedbumps
Have you carefully inspected the harness, especially where it comes close to the steering shaft to see if there is any damage to the wires?
