Mattbchillin
Changed my oil about 2 months ago and noticed yesterday a small puddle of oil on the driveway. The oil seems to be dripping/leaking out of the oil filter housing I noticed the rubber o-ring sealer has a buldge in it where the filter housing is screwed on. We have had a few REALLY cold days lately. If i take off the oil filter housing cap how much oil will come out? Should i be able to loosing it slightly to stop it from bulging or just replace the rubber sealer? 2000 N/A 115,
wizzard_al
Take it off, you will lose about 1/4 quart of oil. See if the seal is torn or not. Obviously, have a spare available. If the seal is torn, replace it, it should fit very tightly on the filter housing, and not bulge or stick out.
Flukey
Make sure to put the NEW o-ring into the 2nd groove. Not the top one.Look closely and you will see a relief molded into the 2nd groove. That is where it belongs. I made that mistake one time. That is how I know.
