DutchCanadian
I was thinking about headlights and how I wanted something different and by that I do not mean aftermarket Blurple HID installations that scream pull me over or look at me!!! So while I was reading up on the subject it seams a lot of folks compare aftermarket HID setups with high-end vehicle setups like this one from a 5 series BMW. So I went to the Bone yard and scavenged some nicer looking S70 headlight assemblies, and pulled some BMW ballasts, and also the reflector/ projector assemblies. So it would seem the two are marginally compatible. So I ended up with 4 Ballasts, grand total was $60 CA And here it is almost finished. And the light test. And this is with the high beams on. Once I get everything wired up properly and installed in the car I will ad a Picture of the car :) Just wanted to thank everyone on hear again for there inspiration, this modification is not as difficult as one might think, but suffice it to say if I didn't go to the wrecking yard and drop $60 and disassemble everything to check fitment I would have never attempted this, I combine my ADHD and boredom and sometimes I come up a winner. wizzard_al
Which BMW?
DutchCanadian
This one was a 5 series, there was also a 7 series that likely would have worked I was eyeballing the V12 when I saw the ballasts a couple days ago, so I went back today and grabbed the assemblies from the 5 series. Only reason is I didnèt want to destroy anything good on the 7 series and the lenses on the 5 were already yellowed over so nobody would have lost from the imminent destruction. quiksilver
Go get clear lenses, the output will get even better. Also, there's no reason to take the halogen high beams from the BMW, just retrofit the projectors into the Volvo housing.
DutchCanadian
I was considering doing that but is seems much easier to do it the way I have it here. If I were to incorporate the projector into the existing lense it would seem to me I would have to do much more cutting and fitting. I know that what you say make complete sense and I may actually go down that route, I just want to see what it looks like on the car as it is. I see you have a Projector setup in your C70 is it a DIY like mine or is it one of those aftermarket jobs? I would like the clear lenses, where can I find them do you have a source? Was also thinking of incorperating a stip of LED's much like the newer cars but I don't want it to look to busy or to aftermarket. I like your setup. DutchCanadian
Well i had a look around and IPD doesn't sell them and anything that is a jeweled headlight is scary expensive. I will keep looking around, ideally the boneyard would have them but Cars like that around here are few and far between.
quiksilver
The three in my signature are all using ABM projector headlights with HID bulbs, they're a halogen projector. Eurosport Tuning/EST carries the jewel lenses, I don`t remember how much exactly they are off the top of my head, but they`re about $50-100 USD per side. What junkyard are you grabbing all these parts from?
Tightmopedman9
There is a UK website that has clear glass lenses for 28 a piece, shipping took three days to CO. Had them 5K and they seem OK so far.

I will scour the UK websites with my P32 internet modulator :) Found them $58 Canadian plus shipping, I am going to wait for a bit see if anything used comes up, I should focus on Torque first. When I disassembled the Bimmer lights they had fluted glass inserts the size of a beer mug coaster, I am going to assume that I am okay for now with this setup, as I consider it to better performance than the originals but not quit the cool factor but sill more cool than stock. DutchCanadian
I was surprised to see some electrical tape on the wires, I thought it would all be heat shrink, I heat shrinked the solder joints and wrapped with electrical tape.
