hgray14
How do I reset the nav system? I just bought this car and the screen pops up automatically out of the dash when I turn on the car and then tells me it can't read the disc. I have tried taking the disk in and out of the nav unit in the back but to no avail. Is there a reset button somewhere? If it isn't going to read the disk, I'd just assume it not pop up out of the dash. Is there an "off" button on this thing somewhere?
boxpin
There is a very good chance the laser is not reading the disk. I would start by picking up a CD lense cleaner. If that does not work you may have a fubar drive unit.
hgray14
But is there a way to simply turn it off? The unit is coming out of the dashboard and staying up and so long as it isn't working, I'd prefer for it to stay down.
DVolvoguy850T5
Maybe this will help?
hgray14
Thanks. Unfortunately, there is nothing there about resetting the system or simply turning it off so it will remain inside the dashboard.
Blockpartie
Have you discovered the buttons on the back of the steering wheel? Try holding the "back" button with the ignition on and the RTI screen raised. That should turn the system off.
hgray14
Ya, I tried that already and no love. But maybe I'll try it again but I'll turn off the ignition while holding the button and/or hold the button while turning on the ignition and see what happens. Is the nav system on it's own fuse? If so, I may just pull the fuse in order to keep it down.
hgray14
So, it's a good thing the lens cleaner worked because even with 4,000 fuses in this car, the NAV system does not seem to have its own. I got the NAV working but if not, I guess I would have been stuck with it in the up position forever.
