2009 S80 inside door handle broken....cannot find one

Greetings,

I have a 2009 S80 3.2 and the inside door handle broke. The dealer can only replace the entire door panel which is near $600 for the part rather than replace the part (Genuine Volvo 39896471) which was $60 on FCPGroton. I ordered the part from FCPGroton and they just notified me that the part is no longer available which is what the Deale3rship said.

Can anyone help me find this part?

Thank you.

I looked on eBay and could not find one. I appreciate the used part salvage idea and have submitted a request to the Erie Vo-Vo folks and will wait.

Otherwise I need to get the new door panel which is a shame. Even the Dealership Service Advisor is upset about that route as it is silly. He is supportive of me trying to find an alternate solution.

Thank you.

  • 4 weeks later...

In follow up, I could not find the door handle. I looked at the used parts online service as recommended and then multiple different online ordering sites and ebay. I called multiple parts sites. I was able to order the part twice as it showed up on the web site and then received a refund about 3-4 days alter as they could not procure the part.

Hence, I had to buy a new door panel. $500 part instead of $60 part.

The car is back and my daughter does not need to crawl out through the passenger side to get out.

While it bites that I needed to pay that amount, it was still better than my wife giving me the "look" for being "cheap".

Hopefully this will not be an issue for someone else but I posted this follow up just in case someone comes up with the same issue.

Cheers!

How did the handle break? My S60 had the handle start to sit cocked at an angle. Turns out there is a pivot pin in it, and the pin had come loose, and was barely holding the handle in. By carefully taking the door panel apart, I was able to reset the pin, and get the door panel back together and it worked fine until the car was totalled 2 years later. The big problem was removing the trim on the door panel to get inside it to get to the handle. Once that was done carefully, it was easy to fix.
