German850R
Hi, I want to replace all my fuel lines from and to the fuel pump. Now, the original fuel lines have some quick connect push on fitting which just pushes straight to the metal outlet in the pump carrier without any obvious retention. What would be the most elegant way to connect a generic fuel line to it? My idea would be to use flexible hoses going from and to the pump carrier, then under the car where the original fuel filter sits (which I will replace with one that thas dash fittings). After the fuel filter I will route 10mm OD alu fuel lines to the front of the car. Thanks Christoph
BlackT5
I used these to convert to -6 and they worked perfectly. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/6-AN-to-5-16-tube-compression-fitting-Black-/230870157968?hash=item35c0ef0a90&rmvSB=true From there, I used 120 degree fittings to get the lines back into the proper orientation to go to the front of the car. Frist attempt with the piece of stuff Russell Pro Classic CPE hoses and fittings which allowed fuel vapors to leach through the lines. Pulled all that stuff out and redid them in Goodrich PTFE hose from Pegasus auto supply and it was all good
German850R
Very good idea. Thanks a lot! I actually have such adapters, just for 10mm aluminium hard lines. So I will order them in 8mm. For a fuel filter I decided not to go the expensive route but instead use a standard Bosch one: 0450905401. It has 2 metric threads in each end which I can nicely adapt 6-AN to. It will fit in the stock location, too. And look stock.
Martijn_B
Great solution - need to keep that in mind.
skloon
Does this replace all the expensive leaky volvo lines or do you still need some of them ??

BlackT5
I have no factory lines. I don't know what the factory lines cost, but the Goodrich PTFE stuff wasn't cheap. The factory stuff shouldn't be leaky. What lines are you having trouble with?
skloon
I dont know which are leaky I did replace one on top of the tank that had two different diameters but when I fill up full the car reeks of gas I'm waiting till spring to drop the tank and take a peek
German850R
Maybe its just the O-ring of the large cover of the fuel pump hole.

Tightmopedman9
I got all my fuel line and AN fittings from: http://www.anfittingsdirect.com/ Everything is so incredibly cheap that I expected all the parts to be a leaky waste of money. However, after a year and roughly 10,000 miles the only fittings/line to leak was the NPT to AN fittings. The line they stock is PTFE, the ID is a bit undersized compared to other companies, but I haven't experienced any smell.
boxpin
What did you do at the Fuel tank? Seems like there would be a bottleneck there.
