A-pillar Trim (beige) in plastic s60/v70 $50 or BO

Recommended Posts

If you have a '05-'07 S60, V70 or XC70 you're probably frustrated with the fabric covered A-pillars that are peeling away and starting to flap around- much like the earlier roof material that was attached with Eco-friendly glue. On earlier models of these cars the pillar trim was vinyl/plastic and there was no problem with them at all. These plastic pieces that I have are a direct fit in color, shape etc. and they look awesome! All the attachment clips and the strap have been retained.  Shoot me a PM or post here if interested. I take PayPal and will ship however you want. Of course shipping is extra.

Regards,

MIJ

This is missing the bill clip (plastic piece that is against the windshield.  I've ordered a couple of them and will get them Monday to attach to the left pillar (unless you're a European Volvo owner, then I can attach to the right side- but you'll have to let me know!!).  Anyway, remember that price is Best offer so if you need these they are in magnificent shape!!  Send me a counter offer!!  They are also easy to swap out!!

These a little old and brittle- I broke the driver's side piece.

I only have the passenger side left.  $15 plus shipping.  Fed Ex is about $10-12 depending where you are.

Sorry to hear MIJ
I want to swap these trims between my 01V70 daily beater and my wife's 06S60.
Any trick not to damage when removing these?
Also, what of curtain air-bag, is it necessary to disconnect battery to avoid accidental deployment of those?

Thanks - jdlc

I got a pair from the local pick n pull using a trim tool. It looks like a cross between a screwdriver and a pry bar. The tab fits into the side at the top so you pull away from the door not down from the window.

The pair I got came from a 01 v70 and fit our 06 v70 well. Pick n pull cross referenced the part and said they are the same for s60s and c70s of that generation also.

When installing, use a thin putty knife or something to tuck the trim under the rubber window seal as you fit it in place.

I broke the one by tucking in near the windshield and then pulling back to attach to the clips...evidently I tucked too much in at the windshield so there was leverage and pop!  I didn't break them pulling them out- just putting them in (after I cleaned them up and added a new plastic ticket clip)...sigh....  Also, be careful if getting from a scrap yard- if  the clear plastic ticket piece is in there, it's easy to snap it off getting the driver's side one out.  I snapped my son's off on the cloth ones (getting his out)...still felt bad because I want to recover them...the color on the plastic ones are lighter than his interior and although a great fit and no scraggly material sagging with the plastic pieces it really doesn't match.  I figure he can use these until the original pieces go to and come back from an upholstery shop.  Of course, you can always paint the plastic pieces however you want- go crazy if you want!  Btw, it may be possible to fix the cracked one with some super glue but don't know how it will look.  I think the entire piece is a bit brittle from sitting in the sun for a long period of time...solar damage as the sun is hard on all plastic (and rubber) trim after several years.

Oh, and there is no worry on the curtain airbags...no need to disconnect the battery.  I probably wouldn't have the key in the ignition when you do this though.  The clip at the top just twists 90 degrees to get out of it's holder.  However, beware that the side that attaches to the trim pieces is a different size.  I'm not sure why they did this.  Anyway, I had to take the clips from the older (plastic pieces) and use them when I installed them in the newer vehicle.  So if you grab some from a junk yard make sure and get the plastic loop clip at the top of the pillar pieces.  You'll wish that you had these when you get to the newer car you're installing them in.

I had a friend go back out to the local pull-a-part...there was a "new" '03 S60 on their lot...had just been there a couple of days.  I asked him to grab the driver's side trim piece for me to replace the one that I busted.  No luck- someone had already gotten both sides.  I'm thinking that epoxy might fix it- might have a little bit of a line on the plastic near the bottom, by the windshield but might work.  I'm also working on a way to "tape" the ones that have fabric on them with double stick upholstery tape...just experimenting at this point.  I know that these could look really nice and it's a damn shame that Volvo cheaped-out on the glue on these when the interior is otherwise very plush!   Hit me up if you're interested in this project.  Otherwise, the solution is to have them completely recovered which I think would cost a pretty penny.

Guess what I did last night?

I really think this may be a permanent fix.  I ironed the portion of the cloth over the tape too for extra adherence and to get rid of the tape line under the material...looks great and I'm gonna swap the plastic pieces on my son's car back out with these.  So, I'll probably have the plastic pieces available after all...as long as I don't screw one up again getting them out of his car.  Hit me up if you're interested or want to know more about my repair.
