ovlovturbo Posted April 12, 2016 Report Share Posted April 12, 2016 i have a 2002 s60 t5 manual trans and i keep getting the message in the dash saying that my gas filler cap is loose or open, i check it and it is tight and screwed on fine, the o ring on the cap is fine and looks pretty new. not sure what could be going on? is there a sensor somewhere else on the filler neck? thanks in advance for the help Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

ovlovturbo Posted April 19, 2016 Author Report Share Posted April 19, 2016 hmm ok, yeah it is a volvo cap i believe, well there is no check engine light at the moment, just the message center on the left telling me the cp is open or loose and the center triangle on the dash comes on then when i turn the car off and check it and restart it is all good. what should i check for in the eval for leaks? gdog Posted April 21, 2016 Report Share Posted April 21, 2016 Evap system leak is the obvious thought on this, but that would typically set a code; never heard of (or seen) an idiot light for your gas cap. ovlovturbo Posted April 21, 2016 Author Report Share Posted April 21, 2016 well i have to check the manual, but there isn't really and idiot light for it, on the s60 in the middle of the dash there is that red triangle that lights up if something is a mis, like when the for is open or something like that and on the left under the speedo there is the message center that tells you about milage and mpg and gas tank miles, in there a message pops up saying the gas cap is open or loose. i turn the car off to go check and it resets itself and is fine, then it comes back. where on the eval should i start to look? is there a detailed diagram i cam go off?
