lepO
Hi friends, I have S60 2001., 2.0T engine. My alarm module died. I can't find used and functional alarm module to replace my broken one, so I thought to just remove the module out of the car. Is this possible? I mean, will everything work OK if I just remove it from the car? Will I still have central locking etc? Would it require some coding or reprogramming with diagnostic device to make the car functional without the alarm module? Thanks.
thedrill
Normally you can take them apart and replace the rechargeable batteries, unless the acid has leaked out and corroded the circuitry.
Ihatespeedbumps
If you remove the module you will have an "alarm system service required" message at all times. You can take your vehicle to the dealer and have a the "alarm remove app" installed to remove it from the network permanently. In most cases the battery acid will have leaked out and damaged the board inside the module. Very high rate of failure.
