After an engine heating incident, a mechanic changed the head gasket and other necesssary elements. In order to do that, of course he had to remove several parts, including pipes and etc. When service was coming to an end, he noticed that all water he puts in the overflow tank goes directly to the crankcase. The engine was not started so far. Does anyone have a clue about what might be wrong, and leads us to this situation?

Sounds like your oil cooler has split internally ,  pre 1999 is in the main radiator, 1999 on ME7 is bolted to the oil pan..

You can bypass both types to test if that's what has happened..

either with a blanking plate off the N/A cars or joining the two water hoses at the cooler on the oil pan.
