'11 c30 NeuCaR

So as I posted last week was looking for a new econ car daily. Was heavily leaning toward an Acura RSX, took a couple for a test drive this weekend. They were OK, but handling and power were not what I would call "exciting" by any means... I found some high mileage ones for under $5K, and low mileage cars for $10K for an '06, all private sales dealers wanted crazy $$ for low mileage cars too. The high mileage cars were usually trashed and for the cost of a newer low mileage RSX, I could step into a '11 c30 R-Design AW55 with 69K miles for just a bit more and it has a warranty. I got a good deal cause it was traded in at a local Honda dealer and had been sitting on the lot for 2 months so they wanted it to move.

I really wanted to stay in the Volvo game and the c30 made it easier to bet some parts. I wanted the R-Design for the interior and suspension upgrades, better steering, 18" wheels, over the base model. Only thing this didn't have was the climate package (no heated seats!!!) cause it was a Florida car, no BLIS and as I found out driving last night no xenon... But it did have the good audio with NAV. The climate package and BLIS were almost a deal breaker but since it was a good deal I pulled the trigger... And couldn't be happier!

Hussein, photos are on the FB. I'll try and load them here, but am limited at my work computer.

Gary, we can't all live in the past... Gotta get a newer car than '98 someday.

I need to check my tire pressure. TPS warning is on and it was getting a bit squarely in hard turns, it plows a bit too and I over cooked the brakes just a tad... I've got the p1 AWD big brake that I was going to add to the '00R, but I might just use them for '11R, even got new slotted EBC rotors for $30 on CL. I'm also add my Ultraleggeras to the mix, that will help with acceleration and braking and maybe add an IPD rear bar. But I'm not going to get too crazy with this one. No exhaust or springs. I want this to be a comfortable car, I'm tired of rattles and bangs over bumps.

Riiight.  We'll see how long that lasts.  :D

There are many options for swaybars, etc, check out some of the Mazda 3 offerings - I got the rear bar from Corksport.

The Whiteline WALK is worth doing to tighten up the steering response a touch - makes no difference to ride quality so consider it.

I've been reading your showroom thread very carefully. Not to get too out of hand.  JK...

I like the IPD swaybar as it includes better style endlinks and with the Corksport you need to get upgraded endlinks correct? And IPD has a sale for $233 and the CS is $219 and what ever for the endlinks. Only downside is the IPD bar isn't adjustable... Not a biggie in my book.

I haven't driven it enough to notice any issues with steering and I wonder how if it's worth it with the better steering of the RD.

I am curious about your dead pedal and what offset are you running 235/40-18, any rubbing? I'm considering running the widest tire I can, maybe 245/40-18 on my wheels with 38et.

The IPD bar is too skinny IMO. This is the one I'm running on my c30.

Welcome to the c30! I love the titanium grey.  Join c30crew!  We're super friendly!

Thanks for the link, I'm going to have to get used to other companies other than IPD for making performance parts since this shares Mazda/Ford parts, makes it a TON easier to make it FUN!

I've been looking for sizes of sways, nobody mentions how thick they are except Elevate 25.4mm, IPD 22mm but CS doesn't mention it and Jamesbaron @ 32mm throws that out the window since it hollow.

Congrats on the purchase Neubar.  Are you still using/keeping the V70R though?

For the moment. But I have thought about selling it along with a full cargo area of parts. I'll have to figure out what I can keep off it and swap to the '11R.

I'd like to keep it as my winter car, but I've got lots of work to do to it while I'm not driving it daily. And if keep it for the long term I've got some special plans for it... :ninja:

Is it just regular H11 bulbs for the low beam? I have a spare set for the '00R I could just throw in or does it throw fits with the bulb out warning? Also how hard is it to install HID fogs?

I wouldn't do HID fogs as they are plastic housings, but that's your call

I did an H11 55w 5000k kit, I have no lights or strobing of any kind. When I have the headlights on the 0 position I do get a bulb failure but I always have the lights on

Makes sense to go with the IPD for that price.

The R Design is about the same ride height as mine (with the Eibachs)  - the steering itself is no different between R / T5.

The dead pedal came off eBay, kit for auto, I just ditched the brake pedal cover.

Wheels are Advanti Hybris 18x8, ET45  w/235/40x18 Kumho - no rubbing at all.
