Brake problems 1999 volvo s80

Recommended Posts

So, today i jumped the car and waited for the battery to charge. While doing so I noticed a wqrning that said something about urgent brake problems and to safely stop ASAP. I was just sitting in the driveway. But then when i drove her the brake pedal wanted to go 3/4 of the way to the floor before anything happened. It didnt do that before. I checked the brake fluid and it looks really dark green and overly full.

Any ideas 💡?

Master cylinder full indicates no likely fluid leaks in system.  A really full reservoir is odd but there's nothing else that is going to creep in there....  I'd look at the vacuum side of this, not schooled on S80's but you likely have a "vacuum ejector" check valve and obviously the brake booster.  If this popped up out of nowhere I'd look carefully for a displace vacuum line off the manifold - traced to the booster....

With an electrical problem, can also possibly be an ABS module issue, with the engine running and a few pumps on the brakes, see how they feel.
