Battleship
I'm used to having a short tight brake pedal. This car seems to have a long sloppy one that doeant really start to grab till its half way to the floor. It does a little but seems squishy. Is there a way to adjust it or maybe somethings wrong? Could stepping on the brake when the car was off do anything to break the brakes?

ErikS
Yes, change the fluid and switch to stainless steel brake lines.
MrWinkey
Might want to check the rotor thickness as well ...undersized rotors will certainly cause fade.
troyhyde
Make sure you have full engine vacuum to the booster (hoses / check valve / vacuum ejector - depending on year, grommet to booster). I've observed some poor longevity in the booster vacuum components, the hoses frequently spin around on the connectors/check valve, etc.... Poor vacuum will result in poor brake performance. Also, a leaky booster will deaden the brakes. Ditto bad master cylinder. As others are commenting, bleed brakes with fresh and quality fluid. Re-bed the brakes when you are sure you have all pieces of the puzzle in a good state of health.
