Jeph430
Went to pass a tractor, accelerated and heard a pop. Car died and I coasted to a stop. I tried to restart, and it fires right up but will sputter and die. I was thinking intercooler line had popped, as that's what it sounded like. Checked those and they are good...crap. Any suggestions? I haven't tried to pull codes as my reader isn't working. Turbo spins freely and there isn't any play that I can tell without pulling it from the car. Trying to trace all the vac lines and make sure they are good, but they were all replaced a while back. Help me out!!
Timbo Slice
My first instinct would be to check all your pressure fittings (couplers, vac lines, etc.). Sounds like something between the turbo compressor outlet and throttle body inlet may have popped loose, and with the unmetered air escaping/entering at that location, you'll sputter and run like shit. Have you done all that? I know you said you checked the IC lines, but did you check everything else?
thedrill
Same thing happened to my friends 2001 v70 the other day, His issue was the plastic hose from the intercooler to the ETM, under the intake manifold had blown off.
