sanfelice
I have already converted over my 2000 V70R with a Pioneer DEH-80PRS through two MTX amps. I am trying to get the imaging correct in the front and starting to dislike the dash tweeter locations. Is it possible to use the center channel somehow by retrofitting it with some tweeters facing off-axis to reflect off the glass? give me some ideas but using only the stock locations, not going to build custom kick panels, but I could do some very small mods. thanks. Tightmopedman9
Nice choice on HU, I have the same one in my 98 V70R. I don't see how the imaging could be any better with tweeters in the center chanel. You could just time alignment to move them into a better theoretical space, but you'll totally loose stereo imaging with both tweeters so close to each other. Not to mention both channels coming through on the same ear... I would recommend mounting the tweeters on top of the stock grille, pointing straight at you. Pointing vertically and reflecting off the windshield is a poor location. Also, I know you said you don't want to do custom kick pods, but hot damn do they improve the sound stage. FINN
I have gotten a really good sound stage in the VR by doing the following: Pioneer avh x1500DVD. Disable front and rear tweeters. High end polks in the doors with adjustable directional tweeters. All speakers powered with amps. 10" RE in the rear for extra low. I agree with Aaron, bouncing frequencies off the windshield is not optimal at all.
