JA VOLVO
In searching I found from several sources to stick with the Volvo genuine parts for the PCV service kits instead of the FCP and IPD kits as they used URO parts that the hoses were sub-standard and wore out quickly. These threads were several years old however. Is this still the case or is the IPD kit good to go these days? opinions either way would be helpful as I have to do this now... Ihatespeedbumps
I'm not sure what the IPD kit uses now, but I would only feel comfortable with Genuine Volvo for the rubber products. If I'm not mistaken FCP now offers a Genuine/Victor Reinz kit which should suffice.
JA VOLVO
cool, I will take a look. Obviously do not want to have to do it again prematurely!
JA VOLVO
This is the only kit that FCP has for my car: FCP PCV Kit It does not include the big vacuum line part. Is it important to replace that due to aged rubber? I have sent am email to IPD asking what the brands of the parts in their kits are.

I've only ever replaced that large metal pipe once and that is because someone damaged it. You want to add 947282 x2 for the banjo bolt crush washers as well. JA VOLVO
ok, works for me. I am good with $100+ dollars cheaper.
apeacock
Don't use clamps on the lower connection to the block. The ones that come with the FCP kit will deform the metal clamp making it leak! Give Tasca parts a look next time you have an order to make. JA VOLVO
Would you provide a little more detail on this? What should I use instead of clamps? Already ordered the kit from FCP plus new injector and dipstick seals.

That's enough to hole it in and the ones they include don't form a circle when tight.
Tightmopedman9
Use oetiker clamps. I wouldn't recommend not using clamps at all.
JA VOLVO
The kit I ordered comes with all oetiker except for two. I will use those. i will evaluate when i get in there. I have never pulled the intake mani before. if it's on the 2000 c70 be ready to remove or lay down the alternator as well. The banjo bolt for the coolant / pcv line thing is nearly touching the alternator and needs proper access to refit. 6 hours ago, Tightmopedman9 said: Use oetiker clamps. I wouldn't recommend not using clamps at all. Would certainly give a more circular clamping force on the pieces but it already has a metal cylinder around it and really can't be clamped any more. I've been running no clamp for a while with success. My indy doesn't use them now either. I believe the part was updated at some point.
JA VOLVO
Thanks for the tips! I will keep it in mind when I am reattaching everything.
Tightmopedman9
I will agree it is a pain, but some side crimp Oetiker clamps make it easier. I've had leaks from there before, but granted that was with the old style.
hootie6828
The new style doesn't leak, and does not require clamps. It is a completely different design than the original, and clamps wouldn't do anything at all.
