Yeah, wherever you read that the vac hose from the banjo bolt is usually not the problem was completely wrong. Clearing that vac hose is one of the most important things to do, that's where the system gets its vac at idle.

Can this vac line be replaced? I know it comes off the banjo bolt side, but what about the other side on the hose?

Finally got back to this after getting over being sick for a week. Ended up pulling the intake and going over everything again. PTC was completely clear. I have a newer version with a large hole. No blockage there. Other ports were all good.

Turns out, as mentioned by a couple of people above, the banjo fitting and vacuum line from it were completely clogged. I removed the vacuum line and replaced with a double ended fitting to the PCV canister hose and silicone line to connect it to the banjo fitting. Put it all back together using a new version banjo bolt with the valve and bingo-bango I have vac at idle now per the glove and no smoke at the dipstick!

Thanks for all the help and advice. Job complete!

One last update here. I was also having some idle issues and dipping RPMs when I let off the throttle. I was suspecting my ETM, but turns out that fixing the PCV also resolved the issues with idle and RPMs.

Just figured I would throw this out there as well since I did not connect the two issues.

Oddly enough i'm having this same issue but not with the idle circuit but the boost circuit of the pcv system.  At idle it will nearly suck a glove into the oil cap.  I replaced the entire pcv system back in march of last year and the car ran wonderfully all summer,  then begun noticing oil drip from the front of the engine, my system is literally pressurizing the oil trap so much that oil is blowing out the block drain.  Not a gusher by any means, but enough to keep the pan nice and oily.  I had my indy drop the pan and replace the o-rings and such and he said everything looked clear for 195K bottom end, a few orings were hard but nothing major, even said the oil pickup screen was free.

So I've ordered this new banjo bolt in hopes that it will help alleviate the pressure reaching the oil trap under boost.  The parts dept fellow at my local dealer also pointed out that they have a banjo fitting with the little coolant loop that comes with a hard line and fitting that will plug straight into the existing 'long pcv hose' part of the system.

That banjo fitting only affects things at idle. I suspect the new banjo bolt with the check valve in it would help your issue as that is the only boost leak into the PCV system that I know about. I had some oil seeping from my cam seal and valve cover gasket and after I got this all back together and I cleaned it off I have seen no evidence of any more seeping. So hopefully that is all your issue is. Let me know, I am curious if it fixes it.

So I got the T5 buttoned up last week, new pcv is in, new banjo with the update it in.  Definitely a performance improvement, seems to boost more eagerly and is a lot smoother.  Haven't seen any oil coming from the pcv system since.  Also took the time to clean things up all over the engine bay and haven't seen a drop of oil return.  I don't know if it was just that the old banjo was letting boost into the oil trap, or that my oil trap drain back to the block was flipped, but either way it's not leaking and its definitely boosting.

Only thing that I've found is leaking now is the CBV diaphragm.  It won't hold but about 4psi before it all leaks down.  So i've orderd a forge CBV to replace it with and after that is in it'll be 100% again and I should be in shape enough to put it on a dyno as i haven't been able to over the last 2 years chasing oil leaks.
