mattsk8
Is there anyone in the US that can (legitimately) tune ME7? Preferably with a dyno? I want to build my old engine, but I don't want a bench tune if I do. I've heard Hilton, Steve-O... anyone use these guys with success? This is probably still a little ways off for me, but I want to have everything lined up before I spend any money on this.
andyb5
Yeah you have a few options. Steve ( @Stevo11811) has tuned my wagon (99R/M66/18T), Anthony's ( @apeacock) wagon (99R/M66/EFR7064), Tom's ( @Tom.) wagon (00R/M56/K24) amongst many others. I'm extremely happy with my tune for whatever that's worth. I'm not sure if he's set up to remote tune at the moment, but I believe that's in the works. Prior to the last round of updates to Anthony's tune, Steve was able to create the hardware setup to tune in real time (without restarting the car) which is a huge advance in tuning these early ME7 cars and was previously not possible. I don't have any firsthand experience with Hilton tunes, but there are members on here that do and are quite happy with their tune. I'm not aware of any ME7 manual swaps he's tuned off the top of my head, but it's my understanding he can do it without issue. Hilton typically sends evolutions of your tune for you to flash via OBD2, not sure if he'd do dyno tuning. I'd say reach out to Rob and see what he has to offer. Pretty sure that Aaron ( @Tightmopedman9) can do ME7 tunes too but that's a question for Aaron to answer.

apeacock
The hardware setup for live tune made a DRAMATIC difference to the ease of use and time it took to do so. Instead of days we made great progress in about 7 or 8 hours. My understanding is the remote flash ability is under construction but close to completion. There is also talk of an ability to data log and with that completed remote tunes maybe a greater possibility. This was also all done via road tune. Some cars are bench tune able if the tune has been created for a car that has similar or identical
mattsk8
I already have the "Blue Tune" (whatever that actually equates to is beyond me), and my M66 tuned. I don't want to go down the remote tune route again, I'd be willing to drive the car, or trailer it wherever I need to (midwest wise or maybe east coast anyhow) for the tune. I've heard from many guys (you Andy, and from Timbo, and others) that Steve-O's tunes are great, but I wasn't sure if he was still in the game or not. Either way, this is all good info. Now I need to figure out just how far I want to go with this and start mapping out some engine parts for the build...
Timbo Slice
Drive out to Ben and Steve in CT, you won't be disappointed.
Boost3237
Anyone hear of this guy? Supposedly he has cracked and can tune ME7. Dunno why my link didn't paste *edit*http://www.jzwtuning.com/product-category/volvo-products/volvo-s60r/
venderbroeck
There will be some diy options available soonish as well. I've finally got my custom can logging routine fully functional. It can log ~45 parameters at a steady 20 fps. This week I finally have some time to do a big write up on my progress. Hopefully ppl will start to do some diy tuning like with m44. Me7 is a bit weird, and can be a little more complicated than m44, but hopefully with the right ppl, a good infornation base can be built. One major advantage of volvo me7 is that all of them are wideband. Even the early ones. This makes fueling very easy, and buying a wideband unecessary. If this becomes available I will be taking part for sure. I did some messing around with my 855 and M4.4 and would love to do the same on my v70

venderbroeck
I'm not sure what a smaller flash has to do with tuning difficulty. The maps wont work much differently. The actual size of the program differs less between a 99 and a 01 bin than you might think, despite the larger rom size. I've only been boot mode flashing up until now. There is no difference between ecu's using that procedure. Via obd it might be a different story though.
rkam
You can try this for reading. http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/files/file/71-readme7/
venderbroeck
For some reason you always seem to be working on the most interesting stuff. That reading program is very useful. Did you ever try reading the immo file with the dice unit?
rkam
I've used DiCE to upload a program to dump the serial eeprom on K-line, but haven't tried dumping on CAN yet. Edit: Looks like I tried dumping on CAN three years ago, but haven't fixed it yet.
