Dougefresh
Ok.. so I kept the motor/trans and harness all intact for the swap... moved the ecu's over, moved over the ignition, cluster etc... and the car isn't starting. Nothing is unplugged that I can tell.. it's got fuel at the rail and I'll pull a plug tomorrow to verify injectors are pulsing... I pulled a coil pack and ground a plug and it had spark... but the car isn't starting. did I miss something? Is there more that needed swapped over? Anyone got any ideas? I'm fresh out.. I unplugged the MAF, same thing... double checked I have air flow through the intercooler. I'm puzzled at this point.

Ihatespeedbumps
Are you using the keys from the donor unit?

Yes.. using donor ecu, ecm, cem, ignition, keys etc.
Ihatespeedbumps
I'm assuming both cars were left autos? Are you getting any codes stored?
Dougefresh
Got it running... so everything I'd swapped over was from the R.. ecu, ecm, motor/trans, ignition... i swapped back to the original ( to shell ) ecu, ecm and ignition and she started... but was throwing a code.. the ecm belongs to a 4 spd transmission.. so I swapped out the ecm' sand she runs with no check lights... so.. I guess that answers that. Somewhere in the car something is stopping me from running the r ecu.. so just gonna have to pony up and get this ecu flashed or tuned and be down the road. savannahvolvoguy
I'm guessing the new ECU didn't like being attached to the REM UEM or CEM without being linked up appropriately? Possibly a security measure?
venderbroeck
I believe the CEM is part of the immo system. You can pull the bins off of each ecu and check if they have the same architecture. If they do, then you can probably get away with just flashing the correct immo file to the R ecu.
