Öhlins Recharge Cost

Any of you guys with Öhlins had to have yours recharged?  I am looking at a set that is supposedly very recently rebuilt but was set up with these super sketchy diy camber plates instead of normal strut mounts......so I'd have to disconnect the reservoirs to install a normal strut bearing which obviously means recharge time.  If you'd rather not post what you're spending publicly for any reason, feel free to PM me.

I have never had mine rebuilt but I had all 4 reservoirs recharged at a motorcycle shop that rebuilds lots of Ohlins bike suspensions and it cost me $40. Honestly, if you disconnect the reservoir you probably won't lose that much charge but it's definitely a good idea to check them and recharge them. They should have 10 bar (145 PSI).

By the way, I don't think you should have to disconnect the reservoirs. There is a cap at the bottom of the strut that pops off and then a nut that you can remove. After that the tube separates from the rest of the housing. This is how you change springs (obviously with a spring compressor holding the spring before you separate the tube from the housing).

I haven't done business with them, but they're popular with motorcyclists in the region. Another common one with the dirtbike crowd is Factory Connection up in NH, who is probably also equipped to handle it.

Cool, I can deal with ~$40!

I know about the bottom coming off for springs, but a strut bearing will fit when you do that, too?

I'm not sure to be honest. It could be that the spring seat and strut bearing need to go out the top which is usually done during a rebuild. When we did the engine build and swapped springs and put in new spring seats, we disconnected the reservoirs to do the spring seat hence the need to recharge them.
