hcaznacnud
Hey everybody. I just finished the conversion of my 96 Volvo 850 Turbo Automatic into a manual transmission. I came upon a donor car that was a 97 Volvo 850 5-speed with a M56H transmission. My question is this upon starting my car for the first time after the swap, 4 lights came on the abs, park brake, check engine, and a flashing arrow pointed up. The abs and park brake are supposed to be there. The check engine I beleive to be related to the TCU missing. But this is my problem what is the flashing arrow? It is located on the right side of the dash in the second cluster, on the far bottom left. I know that this light would come on for really one reason and that applied to when the car was automatic and would be in either winter mode or 3. If anyone could give me insight that would be appreciated.
TryingBe
What state are you in? Do you have emission? Got a OBD II scanner?

I'm in Virginia, we do have emissions but most places do not check that. I hear it's exapensive so they don't check that often. We also have yearly state inspections if you need to know that. And I do not have an obII scanner. I would run up to oreilleys for that but I need to bleed my clutch again which will be done later today. dimkas60r
Thats normal, its blinking because the ECU is tuned for a auto and it does not see the TCU or the trans, same with the check engine light. I just took the arrow bulb out so it wont bother me. Once you get the ECU tuned for a manual or find a turbo manual ecu it will stop blinking and the cel should go off. Ah okay I didn't read anywhere that the arrow would flash so I wanted to clarify and make sure it's normal. Thanks for the info I figured it was something related to it because I know when the arrow flashes in the automatic it means something is wrong with the tranny and it will force itself into limp mode. I thank you good sir.
