Teal854T
When does the cooling fan come on, at what temperature? I hooked up obd2 reader and coolant temp showed from 87 to 104 degree C but the gauge in the car showed a little over half. Fan didn't come on. Fan came on when a/c is on. Is something wrong with the temp sensor? 2006 V50 T5 Thanks
Ihatespeedbumps
The fan is a PWM signal from the ECM and comes on based on a variety of factors (ECT, ambient temp, A/C etc.) I don't recall seeing a specific temp where the fan is set to "on" I think if the fan comes on when you turn on the a/c you are just fine. troyhyde
Not sure what temp is set for your 2006 car but a lot of my Volvo's (varying years) turn on the fan at 210-215 degrees fahrenheit (from memory). This is with the A/C off. With the A/C on the fan is on. The "middle" of the temp gauge will probably not deviate from 160-220 degrees fahrenheit. There is a giant flat spot to prevent paranoia of heat issues.
