boosted moose
Anybody know what this loose wire is for? It’s like a flat grey or possibly a faded green. It’s right next to the alternator by the excitor wire. Any help is appreciated, I stayed up all night and never got lucky. bmdubya1198
Dangling wires are never good. Can you see what the other end is connected to?

It’s connected to what looks like another connector on the front of the alternator. https://photos.app.goo.gl/8bl0MxArAyokOm3h2 Lemme know if that link doesn’t work. Boxman
If that is the wire in question, it should lead to your Airco pump. It's what activates the AC pump clutch. The plastic thing it's connected to is an in-line temperature switch or somethingi IIRC, if that gets too hot it will not activate the clutch either. Without that wire your AC will not work (if you still have AC, maybe it got deleted?)
bmdubya1198
That would make sense. I have not dealt with that connector/sensor before. The next step would be to test the A/C if your car is still equipped.
galexie64
I agree with bmdubya1198 and boxman. It does look like the AC clutch wire.
WarmCanadianWinters
Sorry to jump in this late, but speaking on the AC clutch wire, If that wire was disconnected and you tried to manually start the AC clutch by bumping it, would she go? Wondering because my AC clutch isn't working (only getting hot air from the ac) and I'm trying to figure out why. I have tried manually bumping it and it won't go, so I'm thinking its the freon? Still have to get a kit to test that tho.
