Removing The Hl Wipers - Why So Hard?

On the post going re: the 70 series hl wiper blank plate, people are saying it takes 2 HOURS to remove the wiper motor on 1 side!

What the heck can be so hard that it takes 2 hours to remove? Do you have to drop the engine to get to it?

I'm asking because I want to remove the wipers on my 850, but don't want to trash them in case I ever need to reinstall. I figured it would be a few bolts and unclip a clip going to the wuper motor. Maybe even seal off the fluid hose and that's the end of that. But 2 hours?!?!

BTW, how do you remove the plastic trim under the headlight? I see some sort of clips on the 1 side, but I can't tell if you just grab it and yank, or if you have to remove the bumper and/or headlights...

Thanks!

In order to pull out the passenger side headlight you need to remove or unbolt the ECU box I believe, and get that tube out of the way that runs into the bottom of it. Something else might have to be moved too. It is rated by Volvo as 2 hours labor I think, but probably would only take about one hour. This includes removing parts to gain access to be able to remove the passenger side motor, and also putting the parts back in that had to be moved/removed.

Yes, the trim under the headlights just pulls right out. Pull straight towards the front of the vehicle.
