Brad850
My new turbo doesn't have nipples. Rather than tapping the compressor housing, would it be unwise to instead tap into the charge pipe for wastegate control? My plan would be to weld a bung on the pipe as close as possible to the compressor outlet, so it's only a few inches from it's usual spot. I don't see this being an issue, although what worries me is that I've never seen anyone do it. I found a tbricks thread where people are saying you can even tap into the manifold, but I feel like that would cause control issues.
Andzey
Just my guess. Few inches downstream, towards intercooler, could actually be even better than the compressor housing itself. There are a lot of pulsatile turbulence going on inside the housing, while the charge pipe sort of equals the pressure pattern. If the wastegate would be driven from manifold pressure there could occur some delay related issues.
