Snabb T5M
1998 S70 T5M with 124K miles. When I have the heat on with both sides set to say 75 degrees, the driver side blows hot and the passenger side blows cold. Running the a/c and both sides seem to be the same. What would cause the weird heat issue? A blower motor issue? TIA Lee
erikv11
That sounds like an issue with the damper motors, for the flaps that mix hot and cold air. Blower motor itself should not be an issue.
Boxman
Could be an issue with the temperature sensors too. They're behind the handle in the roof-lining, and are blown by two tiny motor's to keep fresh air circulating. Skewed / missing readings might trigger the climate control to think passenger side is already hot. You can check the damper motors by putting temperature on max or min setting, afaik it then ignores the temp sensors and just gives max heat or cold, so both should be equal. H0lD mY d6InK
Not going to lie, my t5-r did the same thing and I always thought that was normal..... I was thinking it was how the car kept a steady temp inside. It would only do that to me when I had the heat on and I know that the car was hot enough. Of course I always thought and would have eventually checked out the temp sensors, I know they fail or just get too clogged up to work right. Snabb T5M
Thanks for the info, I will check out the sensors. On another note, how difficult is it to change out the heater control unit, and is it necessary to have it programmed. For years, my control unit gives me the two blinking fault lights when first starting the car.
H0lD mY d6InK
The two blinking lights on the climate unit signifies a code in the a/c system. It is as easy as taking out the radio really.
gdog
The 850 has two cabin temperature sensors but pretty sure the 1998 S70 only has the one (please correct me if I"m wrong). Use Vol-fcr to ck your ecc codes and go from there. https://www.___.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=82948
