2002 XC70 running rough at idle and stop

I have an 02 XC70 120k miles. It's not my daily driver anymore but it's been running a little rough on and off for a little while now. I have the money to mess with it a little now so I'm looking to get it running smoothly again. I've replaced all 5 coils with Bosch and a new BPS sensor map sensor or whatever you want to call it. It has Autolite double platinum plugs in it now gapped to 28, but I have 5 Bosch platinum plugs I might put in. The CEL is on but will stay off for more than 2 starts if I disconnect and reconnect the battery. It eventually comes back on usually after sitting for a night or something like that. The car seems to have plenty of power. It seems to be over boosting in 1st gear and goes back to normalish in 2nd. I don't have a boost gauge so I don't know for sure, but it is definitely faster than it should be in 1st gear. I changed the oil and it ran a little smoother. I don't see any leaks and the PCV system seems to be fine even though some passageways could be a little sludged up. I went a little longer than normal on oil changes the past year. Today I will be installing silicone Intercooler hoses and replace the rubber vacuum hoses with silicone ones..at least the ones I can reach and easily trace. I also will be putting a fresh IPD panel filter in it. I have a junkyard MAF but not sure if it works. It looks clean so I may test it out and see if it makes a difference. I know these problems tend to be somewhat common on these model year cars. I have a Vida Dice but I am still working out the kinks trying to get the Vida to recognize the Dice. What should my next step be? TCV? CBV? ETM? Clean throttle body/PCV? What else could it be? It holds a steady idle it just has more vibrations than usual and it almost sounds like a missfire. It often smooths out after driving for a bit.

It has 2 codes. P0497 Evaporative Emission system low purge flow. P0234 Turbocharger overboost condition. I had it checked at auto zone today. I'm still working on getting my Vida to work. I ordered a new purge valve and a boost pressure solenoid valve. Today I installed silicone intercooler hoses, replaced a few old vacuum lines with silicone line. They didn't appear to have cracks but the looked old and crusty. I put in new IPD panel filter but I have now broken all my intake box clips now I have lost a few over the years and now they are all gone. I'm going to see if I can find any good ones at the junkyard. I might put Bosch plugs in tomorrow but I'm hoping the new parts fix the problem when they come in.

Have you ever had any fuel trim codes prior to this? EVAP code won't cause any driveability issues. Once you get the the TCV installed try clearing the codes, then hard resetting the vehicle. You can do this by touching the negative battery cable to the positive post for 30 seconds. I'd hold off throwing any more parts at it until then.

Keep us posted!

I'm pretty sure the purge valve has been replaced by a shop 3 years or so ago. I figured since it's only like 30 bucks or something like that on fcp euro and I had a code related to it I would buy another one as well as with the tcv. I've heard these cars are sensitive to purge related issues and that there is software updates available from the dealership. My car is an 02 so if it hasn't had any done it would probably be a good idea if it's not expensive.

I would try MAF man... I had that problem 4-5 times in a 2003 v70 over the course of 5 years (rough idle, high boost, died on me one time from a stall), especially if the previous filters were oiled, you might try shooting some MAF cleaner in it and hoping for the best, or just trying the junkyard one after doing the same.  After leaving it for a while, i was getting a "engine too rich" code, and it was put in limp mode after the one stall out occurrence. AWD systems can't be that wildly different, but they might differ slightly, so take what I say with some salt.

edit: just looked at one of speedbump's posts, and forgot that I also cleaned out the throttle body one time and that fixed the same exact problem as well.
