EST Downpipe

Well, I bought a downpipe and dual exhaust system from Eurosport Tuning and I tried to get it installed today. I was a little disappointed to find that the dual exhaust system appeared to be nothing more than the 2000 R's OEM exhaust and the downpipe does not fit the car.

Of course it's friday, and my car is still on the lift as the mechanics leave for the weekend, I am stuck carless. Sigh....

the DP does not fit the car? You did order a AWD DP correct? Did you call Frank? Where are you located? Franks is a standup guy and will correct the problem ASAP!

the ipd exhaust is not the same as the 2000 ome.

check out this link, this hero pretty much uncovered it all...

although i do have to disagree with him when it come to the noise factor---i like it, iam living well with it. also you have to figure the ipd system is an improvment over the 2000 ome--- its 2.5 in. pipe, breathing easier ya, iam feeling it.

IPD is the same as in the it is just 2 mufflers and a pipe, not a cat back system. I believe this is his gripe.

I did order the correct downpipe, just checked the invoice again. Perhaps the AWD downpipe does not fit the R model, but I didn't think it would make a difference?

I'm in located in Montreal. I emailed Frank already. Hopefully I can get the problem rectified.

I didn't get the IPD exhaust, I got EST's. It looks almost identical to the pictures in your link of the 2000 R OEM exhaust. Though I didn't measure the diameter of the piping.

The system you have is the SAM system IIRC. does it have both pipes coming out of the DS muffler like the OEM system. I'm pretty sure it doesn't. The only diffence between the OEM systems and aftermarket systems are the mufflers(performance flow), the y pipe, and the tips.

Yeah, it does have both pipes coming out of the left muffler. It does not look like the one pictured on their website.

:D Interesting.... The DP, what year R do you have? Did Frank ask you this? It's a very important ? since the three modle years have different turbos and I think the '98s have 2 different exhaust turbine flanges.

I have a 98, which I included in the checkout process when I ordered online. I'm not entirely sure of the exact fitment problem, I was told over the phone that the angle of the DP was off and that it was hitting the subframe. I will go pick up my car tomorrow, hopefully I'll get more info on the problem.

I have a 98 v70r as well and bought my EST downpipe from Frank. I also bought his dual exhaust for it as well. The EST downpipe does not fit. I emailed Frank and he said that it should fit. I tried again and verified that it did not to make sure. I now need to get in touch with him and figure out what to do.

the dual exhaust does not look like the picture on his website. Both pipes come out of the 1st muffler. No y Pipe. Definitely not a dual exhaust, more a a dual mufflered exhuast.

Let me know what to do. We can work together to get Frank to fix this.

Well, I picked up my car today and I'm fairly happy with the sound of the EST exhaust system. But I'm still bummed about the downpipe.

Apparently, the part that connects to the turbo needs to bend even further to a U shape. In it's current form, the subframe is in the way making the installation impossible.

I am still exchanging emails with Frank, hopefully the situation will be resolved. Turbowagon, what did Frank have to say to you?

I sent Fank a link to this thread, he may chime in here.

He hasn't done anything but say he'll get back in touch with me. He needs to send me the right pipe. My dp is running straight into the subframe and rear ds. Hopefully this works out. The exhaust sound OK.

Yesterday I also sent Frank a link to this thread.
