How fast have you driven your V70R ?

I've had my 2006 V70R 6-speed up to 152mph on I-90 in Montana. Roughly 50 miles west of Missoula, the road is arrow straight for about 4 miles. So, on a warm sunny afternoon with Zero traffic, With 2300 miles on the odo, 5th gear and the "advanced" setting selected, I let the R run for the first time. 80-130 didn't take much time, but above 130, it took a bit of time to reach the 150 mark. I only hit 152 for a split second, as I was gaining on a tractor trailer and decided to back it down before I overtook him. Maybe another mph or two could have happened, but this run was at 3000' above sea level, and I'm running the factory aux Hella front lights which probably mess with the areodynamics a bit. Above the 130 mark, the car felt as though it was getting taller.. after I passed the tractor trailer, I dove into a perfectly safe 85mpg curve at 120+ and while the car felt reasonably solid, the feel communicated by the suspension wasn't as confident as say, a BMW 540. I suspect some H&R springs could help the suspension in this regard.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Were you and your friends came to the VCBC meet at Cates Park in late September? I remember seeing an Electric Silver V70R with OSD and WA plates as well as the Hella lights. :)

Great avatar, FastPhil . . .

For those who haven't yet enjoyed driving in Europe, that symbol with the diagonal lines is found at the end of a speed-limit zone . . .

I had the rare "pleasure" of receiving a speeding ticket on the autobahn last year. I was driving my father in law's Mercedes returning to Duesseldorf from Ostfriesland, and missed a sign dropping the speed limit to 100. Photo radar is very prevalent in Germany, so a few weeks later my father in law received a lovely photo of me at the wheel of his car, with him in the passenger seat, telling me to drive faster.

Many are under the impression that the autobahn is completely unregulated in terms of speed limits, so I have the photo and citation framed. I was a little more careful when I returned to Germany in September of this year.

  • 1 year later...

130 mph in Death Valley 2 years ago. Started to get a little loose so I had to back off. That was with 140K on the original stock suspension. Haven't had a chance to push it that much since I've overhauled the suspension....

Still 155, but now that it is state-side, it doesn't have much of an opportunity for three digit speeds

220kph...fun as hell too...had more room to go too, but ran out of usuable real estate...stooopid slow drivers.

Tingling right foot with this thread. Unfortunately, still a dream to explore the right side of the speedo. Michigan -- police and potholes. (although I'm ready for AutoX with all the on-road practice).

I'll resort to living through those more fortunate -- keep the posts coming.

Yes, but it certainly does not look the part

See that's the mid-life crisis part, it means "I've got two kids, but I'll still whoop your Mustang's ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD."

I75 from Detroit to Mt. Holly has been the arena for most of my high speed blasts...lolol...Actually I ripped by a cop this past Friday night...he was in the fast lane with about 5 other cars and I got pissed and tore off by them in the slow lane doing roughly 160kph. He was jammed in and couldn't get out of line...I never noticed him until my buddy pointed it out as I was passing him...btw...this was on the Lodge coming into D-town...lolol. My saving grace was that it was a suburban cop...they don't give 2 sh_its.
