Hilton
The only information I've found on a 1997 850 GLT is that it has a "low pressure turbo". Can anyone tell me how much boost it runs stock? Sure I could buy a boost guage and watch it, but I still wouldn't be certain that whatever number I saw on the guage was stock. I bought the car used and have no idea what has been done to the car. It seems that no performance modifications have been done. What turbo does this car use>?How much boost do most people recommend? Keep in mind this is a daily driver. I just want a little bit more acceleration. Compression? I'm sure it's higher than the T and R but probably lower than the NA one. This is why I put this in the performance section:I'd like to install a boost guage and a mbc. I'd like to find a boost guage that tops out at 20lbs or less. Going all the way up to 30lbs would definitely be a waste and would make it harder to read.So far I've seafoamed the engine, changed the oil and filter (M1 now), flushed and filled the radiator, bought transmission fluid and funnel that will fit inside trans dipstick tube (still waiting for information on internal diameter of the hose in the flush kit). I looked at the plugs, wires, and belts (serpentine and timing) everything looks relatively new.I want to increase the boost by 25%, because that's what I've heard you can do safely without increasing the size of the injectors or needing to install an inline fuel pump. I obviously don't know how much 25% is, because I don't know the base. Thanks in advance.Hilton

You'de be really lucky to boost 8 PSI.←Well that works out well because I'm feeling lucky!First> thanks for the quick reply. Second> I've read many people use the Samco hoses. darn that seems like a lot of money for hoses. Keep in mind I'm used to dealing with parts for a Z28. Can you recommend any cheaper alternatives?Third> Increasing the boost to 10 psi seems like a waste of time. Should I even worry about doing this? What kind of horsepower increase do you think I would get?

Third> Increasing the boost to 10 psi seems like a waste of time. Should I even worry about doing this? What kind of horsepower increase do you think I would get?←If you chipped it, (only after taking care of the neccesary Stage 0 requirements) you'd be boosting 12 PSI and go from 190 HP to 230 Hp. With ft lbs going from 212 to 265**taken from iPdusa.com
