just picked up a '98 with 50k on her. it is also black with tan interior. but mileage unfortunately does not equal trouble free. i replaced the air pump and a cv joint as soon as i took possesion. i hope that is all i have to do for a while.

ps.. also for the wife...don't know if it will ever be "clean."

Black/Tan?

I almost bought that car last Oct/Nov (for resale), but it sold for WAY too much.

I knew it needed an air pump you could hear it when the car started up big time, bumper needed painting and a couple of scratches on the hood, right?

I was the 2nd to last bidder but this guy obviously wanted it more than I did, not a bad R though.

I'm guessing you paid somewhere between 12,200 and 13,500,

Same car?

same car, the guy must have wanted to unload it though...paid less than 12.

this is my second r and it is running great now. now i can upgrade mine and the wife won't care, she is fine with the standard R performance.

He paid too much, (for a dealer), made a couple of bucks, not a fortune.

I would have paid (almost) what he did if it didn't need the air pump and the couple of other things I saw but it's a very nice R and good luck with it

Well, I guess I should now change my forum handle to 3R ;)

(I bought it), only 57,000 miles!

2 set of wheels and tires (17" Moda R6, my favorite aftermarket Volvo wheel that's now discontinued).

This R is as straight as an arrow, no dings, no chips, no swirls in the black paint, no door dents and not a single scratch anywhere.

Not a whole lot to do except install IPD sways and front Konis for now!

Nice car!

What part of the shore did you pick it up from?

Bayville, (just north of Tom's River)

It's still there.

I have to drag my wife out of bed New Year's day ;) to come with me and get it.

At least I won't have the traffic I had today.

PIA, if you draw a straight line from my house it's almost perfectly due East.

Unfortunately to get there I have to drive at least 40 miles longer, either NE then back down or SE then back up to get there. :)

At least I had nothing else to do today....4 HOURS!!

(At least the drive was worth it)

Yeah, Bayville from Philly is a crappy ride, moreso for you being on the western suburbs. I used to head to LBI from Philly and took 70...nice road through the pine barrens if there's no shore traffic, terrible road if there is. At least it's not all highways (276-tpk-195).

Let us know how the drive home shakes it out.

Took 195 out, 70 back. More or less the same time but 70 had much more traffic.

Monday 70 should be the hot set up and faster as it's shorter and I would think not much traffic at noon, New Year's day

Now the serious question. I have a silver IPD mesh grill lying around.

I've had it sitting here waiting for the right R to put it on.

Do I go with the SILVER, as is, or do I paint it BLACK?

This is serious sh** and I'm going to be up all night pondering..... ;)

Ditto.

Don't forget to put the slash back on!

You don't put the slash on the IPD grill, or at least I never saw it done. Actually it might look interesting.

I can always pop it in the way it is (silver) first
