tboyko
I have heard (not experienced) that the IDQ subs are pretty low output←bing? any experience?
Bing_0
i wouldnt call them low output, they are not SPL subs, of course, but they are pretty capable, though they do no thave a long excursion 13mm or so, they make it up by having a big cone with a small surround...i have odne a single idq 12 in a sealed enclousre in an nissan altima, run by 450 watts, at a show it did 131 db on the dash...one of couters from way back, with 4 idq12s, 2000 watts, in a blazer, no wall, did 149db...b
tboyko
So with 300W to play with, would I be more satisfied overall with a 12w3v2 or 12" idq ?

tboyko
Ok, a final question. Is there a big difference between the IDQ v.2 and IDQ v.3? Why is v.2 $40 more generally?
Bing_0
there is no usch thing as an IDQ v3, the only thing from image dynamics that is a V.3 is the IDMAXv.3, whcih is a bad jerk sub comprable to the jlw7, and the IDv.3, whcih is one step down from the idq. i assume you were looking at the ID series...b

tboyko
Well it's decided, I purchased the IDQ 12" v.2 . Only thing now is tracking down a box. I'd love to make one but I don't have a jigsaw and seeing that I'm down at college, i don't exactly know of anyone that does. What's the best way to go about purchasing one? Can I get one that is approximately the recommended size and then just add in fillin to get the correct volume?I found this on the image dynamics website, it shows what size box to get for my sub:http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/website/te..._idq12d4v2.htmlI want to go with a standard sealed box. What size do I go with though? I don't understand their type of listener description as "large normal small". Does a larger box make a fuller sound but not as responsive compared to a smaller one? Is it OK to get a box with a volume anywhere between the large and the small sizes, or does it need to be one of those three volumes??And where can I buy decent boxes?A million questions, sorry guys, but I appreciate it. tboyko
I'll get to that... but please, I'm a minimalist at heart.I guess you didn't take a look at the document I linked to. They have three different sizes they recommend, so I'm wondering what the benefits are of each size...take a look.
