Well, it's more of an indiglo color. Problem is, when I did it the first time, the bulbs were too dark, and I couldn't even see the needles. So, I put this lighter coat on, and got these results. I did make the bulb for shifter darker, and the lettering/numbering is nice and blue, but kinda unevenly lit and dark. But, a nice color. So, I'm considering putting another coat on to see how it looks, but fear it will be too dark. I do like it better, though.

Ok, I haven't read through the previous seven pages of replies, but I just wanted to add in a couple of observations... I spent HOURS and I do mean MANY MANY HOURS converting my entire interior lighting scheme in my C70 (except for the reading lights) over to red LEDs. Even the green and orange LEDs in the climate control, seat heater switches, even the Darn auto-dimming rear view mirror. Not just painting the bulbs red, but using actual LEDs. Some parts were easier than others. Getting 12 volt LEDs is not difficult... check out eLED.com. That takes care of the voltage difference. You'll have more trouble working through the fact that incandescent lights have a MUCH wider beam dispersion than LEDs do, and if you get a wide-dispersion LED, it won't be nearly bright enough. Trust me, I've tried it a bunch of different ways and spent literally HUNDREDS of dollars on LEDs, and more HUNDREDS of dollars on spare instrument clusters and climate controls and window switches and panel switches and a new f***king door panel for when I screwed up a window switch and caused an electrical fire... trust me, I'm the textbook definition of learning the hard way. I ended up soldering together banks and banks of LEDs to fit behind the dash instruments, odometer, and trip computer, to make up for the fact that LEDs do not cast out enough of a disperse light. Save yourself time, money, and a serious headache and go out and get some el-glo or reverse el-glo gauges from EST, then do up the rest of your car. The switches are pretty easy, you just have to bend the LED around so that it faces at the back of the illuminated portion. The window switches already had 12V LEDs in them... green ones. A simple solder and replace? I think not. They are GLUED to the board, and you'll probably jack up the switch trying to get them off and the new ones on. Oh, and the climate control is also a major pain in the jerk, because it's tough to get right up behind the switches to put LEDs in there to light them up evenly. The radio is the LEAST of your problems. If getting it apart and soldering in LEDs in place of all those little tiny light bulbs seems like a daunting task, just quit now.

So, on that note, good luck, have fun, and email me if you've got any questions! By the way, there are some pictures of my LED conversion on www.brickboard.com, I think under the technical section of the gallery. Just search for RED LEDs and stuff should pop up.

i painted my dash switch bulbs tonight. they came out ok, but i think they need another coat. the only problem i had was that the info switch is the only switch that does not have a replaceable bulb in the back of it. is my switch unique or do most of you have the same dilemna?

Well, I think that the far right light came back on after I took that picture. Bad timing, I guess. And the clock one I think was out just because I didn't put it back in correctly after fiddling with it. But, I am rather happy with the way it came out.

anthony,

what bulbs did u use?

Those are a 194 style LED replacement bulb that I got from superbrightleds.com I put the 6led lights in there and it was a mistake, go for the large single led that is dispersed, the 6led ones are a little long and a little too focused, and although you don't see it in the pic there are bright and dark spots. <_<
