akskibum82
Yep, just got my car back this week with the new koni adjustables and the IPD sways, combined with the Eurosport springs and OMP strut brace. HOLY S#@T man! Ive drivin porches that dont have handling like this, it is insane! I wouls recommend this setup to anyone. The konis didnt raise my car at all, infact i think it dropped (slight tire rub on tight corners). If youre looking for an excellent (an expensive) way to gain top handling from you brick then i'd recommend this for you!
volvolove
What model volvo do you have? Did you put lowering springs in as well? I too don't appreciate the body roll that my car suffers from. What wheels and tires do you have on there?

patrick
everyday driver in a 911 on a track vs everyday driver in a 850 w/ those mods on a track and i dont think it'd be too far off, the 911 is more capable but odds are Mr Lawyer who thinks he looks cool wouldnt know what the heck to do when the tail slid out on his 993 (i said 993 b/c the 996's seem to be much more stable and heavy)

J0E
you are an jerkThanks. You are also an good writer. But unlike others, I'm a pragmatic jerk.I bet there are some nice rusty unmaintained 914's that would get owned by his car. What's it matter as long as it's fun to driveI bet there are some nice, clean, properly maintained 996 GT2s that would make Porsche AG feel insulted having the car mentioned alongside a Volvo 850 in a comparison of handling. Care to elaborate on your point? You example taking an instance from a far, far extreme holds very little water. The realistic truth is there is not a Porsche made in the last quarter-century, given it is in somewhat decent condition, which will be out-handled by this car. Period.I know you are young and impressionable, but please don't give in to the other even younger and more impressionable with regards to their [mother's] Volvo's performance ability. Everyone's first car is always "really fast" and "handles darn good." BTW, Porsche 914s are very good handling cars and are renown for their excellent cornering ability. It is very safe to say that a clean 914 will stomp on a Volvo 850, modified or not, when turns are thrown into the equation.
ovlov28
the second gen 911's dont handle all that well, they are balanced super poorly, and are terriable at autocross, they would be better on a tight road course than the set up he has but on a course that is full of long sweeping corners, i am sure he could hang with a 915, 930, and 964 style 911's they are more point and squirt cars cause they are so light and have good power but in a long shallow corner the ones with less power would get owned by almost anything with similar power and for sure on an autocross course, i was 2 seconds off my friends time at a P.C.A. autocross, he has a 1984 911 carrera that is lowered 3 inches in the front and almost 2.75 in the rear, has bilstine sports, club sport motor mounts ( better power distribution and response) cat pipe, intake, and superchip, and he had avs intermedite tires on it my car, was stock with crappy p3000 tiresa porsche is a sweet car and they handle good but not in all situations, i think a volvo with some good suspention mods would hang right nice if not handle a little better. ovlov28
he has done two porsche car control clinics, and many a autox 5 a year for the last three years, he is not a bad driver, 911's just have too poor of balance to be good at autox. patrick
my dad used to drive 914's, since this is mostly a 'i bet i could do this and that' thread, ill say i bet i could build a 914 that would rape(in handling, not up the muffler) most 911's that roll out of the factory. such a tiny car it doesnt really take much to kepe the chassis balanced and make it stick. the argument can be made about 75% of the performance car market though, everyone should just know your place on the car food chain. and yes that means maybe if you spend countless hours on a track testing/tuning your thousands of dolars in suspension mods, yes im sure you could hang w/ plenty of 911's, but its really all in the driver ya know.
