Does anyone have the Ferrita DP? I'm seriously thinking about going for a whole Ferrita system as it comes in about 750 UK and the race team I work on is in Sweden. So they would purchase it for me and take it across to the UK in the truck, avoiding shipping and duties.

Go for the Ferrita then, great quality :P

Yes Matt had someone in Arizona build a complete cat back to the tips 3" exhaust - not mandrel though. It fit over the axle no problem with room to spare. I was even thinking today how quiet it actually is since I added the DP. The sound got deeper and more aggressive. I also have a no name resonator in there behind the cat about 16" that helped with drone a great deal. I'll see if I can get under the car photos at some point.

So, did your catback to axle section fit in the stock location or did you need to drop it down under the vehicle?

Any idea how big of a resonator? (Isn't that just a glass pack muffler basically, or does it vent some gasses?)

Ok, Ill be heading to the shop later this week to take photos of the work quality for those who are questioning it. Also will have a price for everyone as well. Will discuss Cat possibilities and bung options.

Stay tuned for updates

PS: they will be as good as CJs, for a cheaper price.

No offense to your friend Brian, but I don't see how they would be "cheaper than CJ's with just as good quality".

Even if he has comparable metal experience, does he have compable volvo experience.

I'm sure he's a good pipe man, but unless you have the car in front of you for most of these variations, or a nice set of engineering specs (and the shop tools to follow them) you just cannot cobble these things together at an indie shop, unless it's populated by volvo heads.

We truly did not mean to hijack your thread, (but I guess we did) - everyone has been discussing CJ' GB though.

If I lived by you and could drive to the shop, I'd certainly check it out - otherwise I'm a big skeptic. CJ has done this for a while, has hands on experience with mulitple models, endorsements from a lot of experienced volvoheads, and is also working with IPD - pretty big creds there....

And his pipe is reasonable for what you get compared to other "name" options out there...

What does volvo experience have anything to do with a downpipe?? I have tons of respect for CJ, but look at the thread on VS, "im in if its cheaper"......."lets get more people so the price will go down" and so on........thanks for your input, thats fine with me, you can pay for CJs DP.

Hes not just "a friend" this is a 'V70R DP GroupBuy' ONLY!!! 98-00 have the exact same flange, all angled. He will have my car for as long as it takes, i will then take teh DP to Berts, bolt it up to Pats old wagen (98 V70R) to make sure it matches up right. He can do a FULL 3" turboback for $900-$1000, DP will be much cheaper. If you are interested, just look at the pictures of his work in post #1, and put your name on this list:

  • 2 weeks later...

I am in the market for a DP for a 98. Not sure if this is a reasonable question, but I pulled the heat shielding this afternoon to confirm angled or straight flange and could not identify where the airpump connection would be - my understanding was that not all 98s had this connection.

Can someone help me out in determining if I need the fitting?

Thanks

Larry

Any update on just a price for a 3" mandrel bent downpipe?

My 13g on my 1999 s70 awd is ANGLED. I would take it that the ANGLED downpipes your guy would be making would fit my application as well?

The craftsmanship in the pictures you posted look wonderful. IMO look better then CJ's. I agree CJ's stuff is nice and everything else, but way overpriced for the Volvo community. Your guys said $1000 for a full SS turboback system. And CJ wants that just for a downpipe. Congrats to those that can afford it, but better options need to start coming about and this option seems like it might be the ticket.

Alright - alright - I apologize - I was just following Greg's lead, he has more experience than any 10 of us "regular posters" on here and his advice sounded good to me, as did "keeping things in the "R" family" as well. Also - CJ is nationally known, and has a relationship with IPD, another iconic Volvo source. His pipe is a better value than other "name" brands in the market, but obviously more expensive than a shop fab would be.

Understudy, if had the time to wait, and if I was close enough to have your shop install it, I'd certainly consider it as an option. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, and we'll go start a diferent thread, although I'm not sure if that will minimize confusion or add to it.....

Peace

Johnnyvolvo...
