Oil Pressure Sender Install Alternative

I've done this on previous cars with success, and that's what I plan on doing when adding my oil pressure gauge to my 850. This is an alternative to plumbing the sender into the stock pressure switch port and having to use all of the adapters and T's and hydraulic lines and BeeEss. This is much simpler and cleaner, and you can use it for BOTH a temp gauge and pressure gauge!

All you do is buy a sandwich adapter (stock filter thread is 3/4-16), drill out the adapter to make it a pass through (critical step!), and now you have 2 ports for plumbing temp AND pressure senders. Piece of cake and the adapters run about $20.

And before you say it, yes, I know the oil filter sits low on the bottom of the engine instead of on the back of the engine, but these adapters are only 1" thick. There's plenty of room and it will not expose the filter lower than the oil pan. Besides, that's what my IPD skid plate is for ;0)

Here's a few pics:

Drilled holes for pass through (not a Volvo, just an example):

You would obviously have to make sure your sender fits by the filter, because the Autometer senders like the one in the pic are HUUUUGE. The Defi senders are nice 'n small so I won't have any problems at all.

Could always 90* the sender down parrell to the filter.

Pretty good idea. The redblocks are the same threads as a ford filter... might be the same for FWD.

Yeah, I checked 2 sandwich adapter manuacturer's and they list all Volvos as a 3/4-16 thread.
