Slater
I want to get a nice new 16T, but everywhere I call says the Volvo turbos have some sort of exclusivity rights and you can only get Volvo Mitsu turbos from the dealer or a junkyard. I've tried BIG turbo outfits that deal in MHI all day long - Turbochargers.com, Turbonetics, etc. They are all saying the same thing.Where are everyone on here getting their 16Ts and 19Ts etc from? Are you all just getting used ones from a boneyard, or buying new from a Volvo dealer, or what?-Thanks!

Slater
VPT ←They don't list a 16T on their site - only 18 and 19Ts.Also, FCP Groton can provide a genuine Volvo one for $784+$250 core which is very close to VPT's price on the 18T assuming their 16T would be around the same if they could get it. So I would be looking at $1034 + shipping. Insane, when the DSM guys get these things all day long for $475. Grrrr

JESSEXC
How about a reputable company that can rebuild them or offer any parts? I have two 15gs and 16t that need to be rebuilt. I also need a turbine housing for the 16t .
nik850r
someone mentioned in an earlier thread about buying rebuilt 16t's from volvosaabparts.com (i think this is the website) for around $350.if this is so, what is the quality of the turbo?also how much to you think it would cost to have a turbo switched out? Slater
How about a reputable company that can rebuild them or offer any parts? I have two 15gs and 16t that need to be rebuilt. I also need a turbine housing for the 16t .←That's what all the places I called do - turbnetics, turbochargers.com, etc. The problem is that they can get SOME rebuild parts for them. Again, the Volvo ones are super limited in what they can get. Turbochargers.com, which is a huge rebuild outfit, can get turbine wheels, bearings, and a few other misc things. They CAN'T get housings, compressor wheels, cartridges, and wastegate actuators. The problem is Mitsubushi USA is preventing them from getting the parts because of exclusivity agreements with Volvo. They do the same thing with Greddy turbos and other brand labels like that.He did said Mitsubushi Japan can provide parts like that all day long, but it's hard to get and takes 4+ months to get.I have seen some Japanese operations on the Net that sell new and reman turbo stuff. I'm currently looking into that. The turbos should only be around $450-$500 like DSM turbos. The $750-$1k+ prices are for the Volvo rigged up models. If you can find the same things from Japan they will be at the normal $450-$500 price.I'll see what I can do and post back if I find anything.- Slater

Jimmy Blowout
Is core charge refundable on the 16T if ya give em your old turbo? LPT for instance
Slater
Is core charge refundable on the 16T if ya give em your old turbo? LPT for instance←Nope. Gotta be like for like. That's why for us 15G guys we get royally screwed because we have to eat the $250 core charge. So that bring the total to $1050 + shipping.
