Zulu
I'm gonna run 3 inch exhaust piping front to back to a (I'm thinking) Greddy EVO2 exhaust. Anyone heard anything about it?
volvo4lif3
sounds like you want a ricer-sounding exhuast.
J0E
sounds like you want a ricer-sounding exhuast.←Sounds like you don't know what you're talking about. It doesn't matter what type of muffler you put on these cars. As long as it's straight-through, it's generally going to sound the same. Some may be a bit louder or drone more than others, but overall it's the engine which determines how the exhaust-note sounds. Simply by changing the muffler, the car will not suddenly sound like an LS1 V8, a Honda, or anything in between. It will still produce the same course, wheezy sound of the T5.That's why I can't help but laugh when I hear "I want a new exhaust system, but I don't want the car to sound like a Honda." How it looks is a different story...

Brickster151
Another thing that comes into play as far as an exhaust note is muffler placement. If you put the muffler at the very end of the system it will sound a little buzzy.
AutoX47
What muffler or how many mufflers, what size piping etc really can change how the car sounds. We just changed the exhaust on the RX-7 from dual to the rear muffler and collecting into 1 borla to the Speed Source collecting right after the header into their round muffler it went from sounding like a raspy screaming rotary to a boring impala :(
Zulu
Thank you Joe for explaining, so I didn't have to . Well the EVO2 is meant to be the quietest of any good aftermarket line while maintaining high performance. Looks good too. But does anyone have actual experience with it or am I to be the guinea pig? I don't know how you linked Greddy with shitty ricers...Ractive OK, but Greddy...

Matchbox22
Well Greddy is a very respectable company, but since they don't make an exhaust for Volvos you would get the ricer reaction. Greddy exhaust are tuned from the factory for each application and that's why they sound quiet. All the bends, where the resonator is placed is call taken into account. Well the same idea goes into a IPD exhaust.
