gaterp
Maybe buying one of these bad boys. I went back to 1996 reviews, edmunds etc. They are saying the car tested was in the low 6.2 sec area. I'm not sure this true, if so awesome. Please adivse on any info you may have.
StickThatClutch
Well, if you're going to be buying a 10 year old car don't expect to run as new. I'd expect something around the high 6's low 7's for an automatic (which are the most common) high pressure turbo cars. That said my stock S70T5 automatic ran a 5.98 0-60 (stalker radar gun measured) 0-60 when it had about 11k miles on it. Hope this helps.

gaterp
i know we ran my buddy's 1998 t5 at 6.4 and I was trying to justify why I should buy the the 850r?
StickThatClutch
I had no idea they were so quick in stock form. ←Yeah I was really surprised. At first we thought the thing wasn't calibrated right but I guess our professor had it just calibrated. Two way average I dropped one run which was kinda out of the range (5.77 sec) since I think that was a fluke in our setup. i know we ran my buddy's 1998 t5 at 6.4 and I was trying to justify why I should buy the the 850r?Yeah they are more or less around that fast. If you do the stage 0 (I think its pinned at the top) you can fix all the boost leaks and small things that plague performance of an older car. Good luck. gaterp
I happy with a low 6 , I had a M3 4 door in the high 5's, but I need something the kids can ride in that is safe and I don't look like the old man on the block with a volvo. InlineTurbo
I ran a 6.2 bone stock in my S70 5 speed. After mods it went down to a 5.9. The biggest problem is traction and boost limit in 1st. I'll try again soon and see what I get now that I have a cat back and intake. I'm guessing suspension mods and an MBC will make the biggest difference.I liked the M3/4 as well. The problem I had with it was less torque than my S70 and much smaller back seats. They are awesome machines though. From a roll a chipped S70 will beat a stock e36 M3. They just don't make the torque that we do with a few mods. They are however very efficient with using what they have. From a stop it comes down to driver skill, but the M3 is much easier to pilot out of the hole.
pennybridge pioneer
the fastest ipd ever got their chipped 98 s70T5M was a 5.9-ish..... so unless you guys either have faster cars or magical transmissions....maybe some other sort of timing device might be necessary.Try comparing 1/4 mile times (or even better trap speeds) because any fwd car is not going to be a 0-60 annihilator... StickThatClutch
Dunno. After that I ran the 1/4 mile got a 14.6 @ 96mph in stock form, that's a bit faster than most of the timeslips I've seen for a bone stock automatic. I was able to get off the line well with a 2.12 60 foot. I don't want to say my method of testing was flawless but I think its a bit more accurate than a G-Tech or GPS. JLT
Right now I am running 0-60 in the high 5's low 6's with a modded but not ridiculously tuned s70. i find that 0-60 was dramatically improved with the removal of the 1st gear boost limiter that comes in the programming of the stock ecu.also, Road and Track managed to jockey a stock S70 T5M 0-60 in 5.9 seconds bone stock somehow. if i powerbrake my s70 just right i can turn 60 near 5.5 but this is def not good for the tires or the transmission.remember, drag racing is for people who compare dicks. stop comparing, and just use the darn thing. :monkey:
StickThatClutch
Haha we went from 7's to 5.5 Magic Volvos abound I guess.
JLT
everday street starts are around the high 6's to 7.3. i've seen as slow as 7.4 on my s70 when it was stock in the florida heat. however in the cold night up here in washington i've clocked the mid 5's while powerbraking the crap out of the car. i think it all has to do with the mods and the way you're driving the car.
