Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding! We have a new provisional winner.

Fuel pressure at the rail was good, they are now looking at the fuel pressure sensor. There was another code... While on the phone with me, she asked if I had ever lowered the car. Apparently the ride hide sensor didn't like the ride hight. Had nothing to do with the fuel delivery issue, but she just wanted to ask.

If I catch the SOB that stole my springs and slipped in the Eibach Proline's I will go all '138th street' on his @$. The adventure continues. -mk

If the pressure sensor has issues, would it not cut the fuel pressure? I hope they get their sh!t together and fix that ride of yours, repetitive problems can make you dislike a car; it isn't the cars fault though just the idiots working on her.

You think anyone in SC even knows what 138th street means? Most of them probably don't even know the Yankees play in the Bronx.

They say the sensor thinks there is enough pressure to run up to ~2000rpm but desn't see enough to WOT. Hey I am getting new stuff. I am pretty sure I will have an '09 by the time the car is done.

I don't know if I ever recounted it here, but I put a 'zuki RF600 down coming over the 138st bridge. Woke up in Metroploitan with a nurse asking me: "?Yo hablo inglese?".

Good times...good times. -mk

Got a call yesterday, said the car was ready, too late in the day to return the loaner, Joyce had it at work. Recieved the car today, felt ok on the highway home, but didn't get a chance to get into it, given traffic. Went out just now, got on it, stumbled in advanced at 4,000. I called Nice Lady, told her I am lemon lawing the car I don't want it anymore.

Obviously no one road tested it... -mk

It is most prounced in advanced, less in sport, and almost none in comfort. I am starting to think it is loosing boost, happends right at 4,000 under full throttle. anyone, anyone, Bueller, anyone, -mk

I'm so sorry you're having such bad luck with your car. It sounds like their service department needs some help. Intermittent problems can be hard for a technician to find (depending on the frequency of occurance), but there is no excuse for not repairing a hard fault like yours. I hope your weekend gets better.

Do you still have the car? Try testing to see if there's a problem with the wastegate? Pull the line that goes from the TCV to the wastegate and slowly try to build boost.

Ok, this may sound stupid, but there are two different fuel pressure sensors. One for the turbo engines (grey) and one for normally aspirated engines. (black). They are not idiot-proof and can fit either fuel rail. If the black fuel presure sensor is installed in a turbo car, it will not run properly under boost. It is easy to tell which one is installed. Look underneath the fuel rail cover at the left end of the fuel rail (closest to the air filter housing). The fuel presssure sensor is installed right at the end of the rail. If it's grey, it's correct. If it's black, they screwed up.

Tell them to hook up a temporary boost gauge and see what pressure it has at full boost.
I took the rail cover off - they scratched it up nicely anyway - grey sensor.

Who engineered that fastener right under the piping?...duh.

I will most definately request a boost gauge. Wouldn't mind having one permanantly.

Who has one that looks stock?

Isn't nice when 2000 people can work on a project, together. -mk

That is a good looking piece. I see it also calls for a 'live unit'. Does this plug into the OBDII? The pic doesn't show a vacuum line. Do you actually have this or just knew about it? -mk

The live unit receives the signals from the gauge sensors. It does not plug into the OBD II. You will need to tap boost and run a line. In this car, that is pretty easy.

I do not have this gauge, but have seen it in person and can say that while it is not a 100% match, it looks really good when paired with the R gauges. It is also on the expensive side, but it looks super sharp.

Hey Mike - Disclaimer here: I no longer know squat about cars, but doesn't the computer map the fuel delivery differently depending upon which 4C mode you are in? My recollection is that Advanced is definitely different than the other two. Do you suppose it is the computer (or one of many computers..)?

I mean, you did ask for "anyone".....

I did have them document that it happens more in advanced. Advanced does give a more ambitious throttle response. But...we put in a new computer with the bad Sunoco debacle. -mk

Gotcha, I can handle tapping a line. It does look well co-ordinated. If I keep the car it will be high on the list.
