I went to look at a 1996 850r with tons of upgrades, IPD exhaust, blisten stocks, 18" r wheels, but the car had been in a accendent and now has a salvage title. I'm not familar with this and need some help. He showed me the pics of the car when it was wreck. Front left side was damage and I'm the air bag deployed. What else do I need to ask this guy?

here some pics from today

That car isn't worth 3k with a salvage title. Just to put in perspective, there is a HENNA E30M3 with a salvage title selling for less than that car. Henna is the RAREST E30M3 next to the convertable E30M. It's in great shape, but has a salvage title, so it worthless. A Henna that is in the same shape will sell for 15-20k easily.

it's a good buy if you tell he is an idiot for asking that much and you'll give him 1k for the car and 2k for the mods and if you just want beater car that is fun, but it's not worth a cent.

I contacted KBB this was there response.

Thank you for contacting Kelley Blue Book. A salvaged, reconstructed or otherwise "clouded" title has a permanent negative effect on the value of a vehicle. The industry rule of thumb is to deduct 20% to 40% of the Blue Book value, but salvage title vehicles really should be appraised on a case-by-case basis in order to determine their true market value.

if title is rebuilt and w/ those mods it is worth more than 3K I would say around 7 if fine. Salvage and salvage rebuilt are quite different.
