why don't you just leave the white wires connected to the heater and just tuck it away.

I also am wondering what to do about the computer. I ran 18psi with stock computer by tricking it but I know that will not be enough now. I just bought a 35r, my m66 is on the way, I'm trying to get rods and pistons and my head is off for my freind to port. I am almost finished with my megasquirt but I don't think I can get it to control the cop or drive by wire and I don't wanna ditch the computer cause it controls cruise and so many other things. I sure don't want anyones generic tune. I think I am going to get some kind of standalone and just keep the stock computer up just to keep everything happy. I just wish we could tune the ecu on a end user level.

Look into the AEM's...a bunch of my buddies have them on just about everything under the sun and they swear by them.

My Stealth is on the AEM and from personal experience, it requires a trained AEM technician about 3 hours on a Dyno to properly set one up. They are Not plug & play and every car combination is a unique tune. The AEM has a lot of capability, but is a complex unit that cannot be tuned by your typical backyard mechanic!

I used a 1050 box on my bike way long ago worked pretty good. The I bought their univeral box cause it had peak and hold drivers and for some reason it never worked good. It would always get tooth count errors and misfire because of it. They were very unwilling to help because I was so an authorized installer of Aem. Well I ended up bringing it to an installer the blamed it on the box. AEM took the box in looked it over and said it was bad. The shop put it in and still wouldn't work. That has always left a sore spot on me. Though my 1050 box did work real good in my bike. The software is no more complicated then any other standalone. Fuel maps are speed density maf or a combo. I never used it since the tuner software came out but was easy a few years ago.

Oh hell ya...couldn't agree with ya more Doug. If I do it in mine with the M66, Tony Simmons from Speed Industry in Detroit will be doing the set-up for mine. He is a very accomplished tuner and they do have a 4wd dyno in house as they specialize in Evo's and WRX's. They are a very good shop if anybody in this area is looking for one to deal with.

Geez... I guess I kinda forgot about this thread since I've been having so much fun playing with the car.

Here's an August update:

- Front OEM O2 sensor reinstalled. Third hole drilled, bung welded, and LC-1 O2 sensor installed to keep the Innovate happy.

- Motor still not fully broken in. Not even at 100 miles yet! Will change oil at 1k after the rebuild, and again at 2k. No synthetic till then.

- Working with TiSpeed to get a set of titanium shims made for my Porsche big reds... evidently they didn't have the correct shims for these calipers???

- HD Radio module installed... now all my radio stations are digital!

- Bought a pair of Evolve hood vents... will post pictures of the install soon.

I'm here in D.C. till Oct. 1, so chat amongst yourselves...

Your in DC ....lunch one day ? :)

Yes and YES!

I didn't know that's where you lived.

I'm currently with friends in Alexandria over the holiday weekend. Will be back in Crystal City (for work and where I live temporarily) on Tuesday and Wednesday, then off to Nashville on Sept. 10 for four days. Back on the afternoon of the 14th. Will be here till Sept. 30. I have your number... will call you so we can make a plan.

Have any car goodies you can bring with you for me to take back to Oregon?

? not sure what do you need , I am 2.4hrs away but well worth the trip :)

Gonna make a day trip out of it?

Maybe we should aim for the weekend of the 19/20. I don't have any plans as of yet. Ben needs my help with his dad's car the last weekend in September so I'll likely be busy then.

Not sure what all I need. Kinda depends on what you've got. We'll chat about that on the phone to keep the Volvo "vultures" at bay.

What shims? The piston inserts to prevent squeal? I got a set from the local Porsche dealer the other week and they were cheap enough.

Titanium brake pad shims. Not really intended for anti-squeal... moreso for heat transfer barrier, but they do have some anti-squeal benefit.

This is sounding better and better. Too bad my R is back in Oregon... :D

Maybe meet at a pub in Old Town? (I'm in Crystal City).

How's the weekend of Sept. 19/20? Send me your phone number via PM so I have it too... I already have Justin's. Maybe Saturday afternoon meet up and dump me back off in Crystal City later on in the evening.

Sounds good! I should be free that weekend. Maybe we could get some more wagon folk to attend, last one only had 3 out of 12. :( And do we want to make it just V70R or open it up to the other boards to get other DC locals to attend?

Justin I think you need to drive down since you missed my last one, I need your train horns!
