RWagin
I am considering the purchase of a 1998 V70 AWD, the car was traded for another Volvo at a local dealer and the price is attractive and I was curious what other's have experienced with the AWD. I haven't seen too many of the "GLT" V70 AWD around, and the R seems to be discussed much more. Is there anything I should look for specifically by way of trouble spots. Is the GLT more likley to last longer due to less horsepower (for now) I am considering an IPD chip and exhaust shortly after purchase.Oh, the door panels are peeling and I am aware this was/is a warranty issue. How much are new door panels? Looking forward to everyone's response. I'm looking to pay about 9500 for the car, the dealer is putting new tires on and doing the 90K service for me. I am also going to have the tranny flushed and filled.
Kawazar
That seems like a good price. I just purchased a 98 V70 XC with 60K for 13000. The same dealer had a 98 V70 AWD with 118K for 10900.I have jad good luck with both of mine so far. The peeling door panels is an issue for both. I have read they are quite costly to replace. That was at a dealer here in Manchester NH.
jda2000
Make sure the t-belt was replaced at 70K miles, make sure the ac works ice cold and that the ABS/TRACS lights come on for 2 sec when you turn the car on.If all is working and comes with an extended warranty to 100k miles, then I'd say is a SUPER DEAL :P
RWagin
Just called the dealer and they are sending the car to the auction, turns out it needed about 3-4K in work. I'm bummed. I'm looking for other non-XC V70's in the New england area, I'm going to check autotrader.
jda2000
I bet the AC was not working, the t-belt need replacing and the ABS module was on the fritz. That car would be sold to an unsuspecting customer for good money, so prospective buyers do your homework :D
