'00 V70R M66 teaser

I said I wasn't going to post photos until it was all complete but I've had a few folks ask for a sneak peak and it looks like the car is going to be mechanically finished to a degree where it will be at the Texas Spring break meet so some will get posted from that I'm sure.

Aaron has done a kick ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD job working with me and has been really patient. This car should have been done quite some time ago but we've had several parts get lost in shipping for months (ex: my turbo was "lost" in shipping for over a month with UPS). We also had some issues that are unique to the '00 R that is different from the other six speed swaps that have happened. I'll cover details in the full build up thread when the car is done. Mechanically the car is 80% done and we still have to do body work and another little something Aaron has up his sleeve...look for a full build thread in another month or so.

Here's a few quick teasers. I'm not going to go into a bunch of details until I post the full build. Just enjoy the pics.

NICK FINALLY! So you coming to Carlisle with it? :D Can't wait to see the rest. BTW how do you like CJs toe rods? Do they transmit noise I asked him about the bushings and he didn't give me an answer so I passed on them... But I should have gotten them just cause they are LB... Eagerly awaiting your next post.... :)

And no bracket to hold up the R mani? Why?

Don't think Ben or I used a bracket to hold up our R Manifolds. I want to add one more bolt on one of the heat shields, but that should do it.

Nick - cars looking good. I can't believe how clean and free of surface rust the undercarriage is. Lucky to live in TX I guess!

Lookin' good!

Why did you pull the pinion flange, though? You'll really need to pull the seal & replace the compression collar before you retorque that puppy...

You have to spill the beans on the issues you had - it's not fair to string us out like that :)

I doubt I make Carlisle. It's really hard for me to take off work for more than a day or so, I'm a sales manager and it really kills are sales when I'm not out with my sales staff. Also, I have several on road road races (silver state, etc) that I am wanting to make- the entire purpose of building the car.

Dunno how I like CJ's rods yet. I have not driven the car since Nov 1 when I dropped it off at Aaron's shop, Race Lab Fabrications, in Houston- I'm in Shreveport/Dallas.

I doubt I'll notice much.

No real need for the bracket I don't think.

Really!? I can't wait to get it home and on our lift here to clean and detail the Chassis.

I will never buy another northern car for that reason.

Aaron wasn't done with everything when I took that photo. He did everything by the book, he's went through several of them.

I don't want to post about the issues until we put some good test miles on the car and know everything works. I don't like giving out incorrect info. We also have some other solutions we want to try out for the best results.
