So where does this little beggar go then. Not being the one to have pulled it apart I wasn't much help to them. in line check valve goes to another valve fastened to radiator shroud which eventualy leads to carbon canister under left hand side fender.

I really love the delicate touch on the engine harness removal method. Looks like a machete was the tool of choice maybe?

At least yours isn't completely bare and you have some spare used bits now as well.

I haven't won yet. Drive shaft carrier bearing is ordered from Volvo of Dallas (they have always looked after me) so even if the engine is in and running you stand a chance to pip me at the post.

Tom from ULR managed to lean on Volvo AU to find one for me but at $270 I declined and will wait the 3-5 days longer. ($188 US for bearing + retainer + freight) - current exchange rate = WIN.

I quiet like the C70. I guess we can both say we sort of own one now :P

It lives!!! :D

Engine appears to be good pending a test drive due to the bad drive shaft carrier bearing. It seems tempting to slap it back together but knowing my luck this year it would explode in a spectacul fashion first drive.

That and the fact that I have waited this long to do things properley I'd be nuts not to finish the job properley.

Managed to take a piccie of the engine bay today, as i thought the hose is disconnected and in need of replacement

And we have some progress, the engine has actually been moved into the Mazda workshop

Hopefully tomorrow they will start on it.

Hey Thomas

Can you do me a favor and have a look at the washer bottle hose routing as mine is connected wrongly.

It is very complicated with one way valves, breather tubes and the headlights run off the same bottle too !

You may have to look right up under the front bar to get an idea on how it goes

maybe do some kind of schematic diagram for me !

Cheers Pal

Oh yeah...all the lads in the workshop now think I'm a crazy Volvo nut..

Had to drive a Mazda CX-7 turbo 4wd back to one of my customers panel shops tonight...still doesn't come close to the refinement, speed, comfort, road quietness (NVH) and driving dynamics

of my 04R.. little do they know.

Hehehe. Even our old beastie is quiet and refined compared to other stuff I have driven in the last 3 weeks. Just have to tune out the tailgate rattles (on the to do list).

Well ours is back home now. It was the most harrowing drive I have ever had listening for an watching everything but the traffic.

I haven't been game to open her up and I don't know why as it's probably better for it fail now rather than after the 6 months warranty expires .....

I'll look at the washer bottle stuff in the morning for you Daz and draw some sort of diagram.

BTW. Is this the first twin engine R out there?

I was expecting to blow a kidney lifting it out and into its new resting place in the garage after what you told me about the weight. But. A mate and myself slid it out to the edge of the opening and simply carried it it off. Maybe you need to up your wheatbix intake :D

I have started stalking one of the teachers at our kids school too. Not for them but for the engine in their car. You just never know when you might need one .....

Excellent. Mayor progress. Looks like the Mazda boys don't mind working on the Volvo going by the number of guys around and under it .

So is that what a manual box looks like?

Check that drivers side drive shaft carrier bearing too. Mine sounds like maracas when shaken. SKF make one albeit 3 mm narrower. When mine arrives from the US I'll think about when to replace the SKF unit + spacer ring I have in there now.

The original is a FAG unit but I can't seem to find it in any of their catalogues.
