Hello again

Well I found my problem...

I pulled the sump off tonight and sure enough the big ends were blackened from little or lack there of engine oil, probably going to need an engine... I looked at my oil pick up and as some of you know it has a recess in there that you could stick your thumb into, well I did that and I could feel what felt like crackly cellophane... so I pull this perfectly round piece of plastic out of there ! WHAT THE F%#..

I guess during one of its oil changes somebody has ripped the plastic seal off the end of the oil container and its fallen in with the oil ,worked its way down into the block, sat there for a couple of years, Ive bought the car, rebuilt the head, got it running nicely, lost oil pressure and you know the rest !

Talk about worst luck :(

Not with Engines, but other gear.

Unique Cars has lots of ads for AUS/US based companies that import parts from the US.

Haven't heard from Darren for a while.

He is still in the corner of the room in the foetal position after these issues.

Hahaha. That would be me in that situation .

Come on Darren. Your the only one in oz with a project car. Don't give up now ;)

Hmmm ok you have my attention

Ive got a mechanic coming over hopefully this weekend to check out the crank, if its toast, I'll go for a long engine, really should have done that in the first place

Found a B5234T3 for sale in Sydney , mine is a B5234T4 < I guess its only turbo differences. The "23" in the engine code means 2.3 ltr, Ive just got to check it doesn't have V V T.

Dave your are a legend ! I too wish you were a bit closer :D

Anyway chin up, Ive passed the point of no return now, Just got to save up a bit more cash that's all.

Regards Daz

you can use the motor with the VVT with out any issue.

a few have already put 01+ motors in the 850s.

I am putting a 05 R motor in my 98C70 :D

Please tell me more, I have of this, makes good sense to put a younger motor in

Hi Dave

Just some more advise please, should I drop the engine and box along with the sub frame or should I take the engine out from the top ?

Regards Daz

For me it was Much easier to drop the whole assembly out the bottom. & I did it in my driveway off jack stands. I can't see how leaving the trans in would save you any time or hassle. but thats just me.

If I can help in any way just let me know.

...........Dave
