AnthonyR Posted March 16, 2005 Report Share Posted March 16, 2005 Well, I was looking at the Alpine 9965 (comes out this late summer, was looking at it online) plays dvd video but no built in monitor, very cool deck it looks like.But then I had another idea for a replacement to my current deck (Alpine 9815)After toying around with my modded xbox and a program called XBMC (Xbox media Center) That program is updated daily, and can play ANY kind of file I have thrown at it. And there are those that make touch screen interface adapters so double din with touch screen. Plus the xbox is up and going within 7seconds from power on. then I could put a 200gig drive and have all the music/movies/music videos/ etc all in the car and I could wirelessly network with the house for updates. And all of my speakers are seperately amped (no need for deck power) only thing I am wondering is seperate sub control and crossovers. Could also combine it with the 9815 and a line in, but... Might also go with an external crossover/eq setup. Dunno, just throwin this idea out. So please feel free to post pro's or cons of each that you can think of... I'm by no means an authority on the subject, but I'm seen numerous posts on mp3car.com regarding the Xbox. Veneficus Posted March 16, 2005 Report Share Posted March 16, 2005 I was leaning away from the touchscreen to just go with a module in the center dash. Make it so that when its closed its flush to the dash. Also that would elminiate any problems that you would have with touchscreen.
