Who's Car Is This With The Cda Intake?

No, I need like 3.25'' to like 3.5 or something like that. Oh, and when I order install the coupler, I will attache it to the peice that the OEM snorkel attached too. That way it won't need to be too long.

Is the OEM snorkel 2 pieces? I thought it was 1 piece.

Basically I've found a way to duplicate the CDA setup in a DIY version for under $50 including filter but I need more info on the install before I can finalize the install and share the details.

No way you can duplicate a CDA. Have you ever bothered to look inside? The filter inside isn't just an ordinairy cone filter.

I should have clarified. When I say I am making a CDA like setup I am using an Apexi cone filter in an insulated plastic cylindrical box that is going to be installed in the same place and in the same way as the CDA.

Besides - what if I had found a way to duplcate it? You think the patent nazis would come and arrest me if I ran it on my car?

slater, i agree its very easy to replicate w/ some home depot parts and a cone filter, plus you can color match it and throw a volvo emblum on it for the "stock look" :D But nevertheless it still is a beautiful peice

Yeah, no doubt about it - CF looks nice. But in this case the "weight savings" angle of CF is stuff as you are saving maybe 0.25lbs. They could have just as easily made it out of plastic which has better insulating and heat transfer properties and cut the cost considerably. But then you lose the bling factor...

Do you even know how thick it is? ;)

The pre-pregnated mats of CF like that are usually about between 1/32" and 1/16". The finished sheet of CF I have in front of me (been resined, finished product) measures 0.0475" on my micrometer. My carbon fiber hood is 0.054".

It's possible that they used 2 layers of CF but I seriously doubt it since no one sees the inside of the intake. Usually the backing material is fiberglass and the top layer is woven CF weave.

Hey, I'm not saying it's not a nice intake - I would rock one in a second. But they could have left out the bling and the price would have been much cheaper. My intake won't have any bling.
