Who's Car Is This With The Cda Intake?

The pre-pregnated mats of CF like that are usually about between 1/32" and 1/16". The finished sheet of CF I have in front of me (been resined, finished product) measures 0.0475" on my micrometer. My carbon fiber hood is 0.054".

It's possible that they used 2 layers of CF but I seriously doubt it since no one sees the inside of the intake. Usually the backing material is fiberglass and the top layer is woven CF weave.

Hey, I'm not saying it's not a nice intake - I would rock one in a second. But they could have left out the bling and the price would have been much cheaper. My intake won't have any bling.

FYI, I talked to an engineer buddy of mine (who works with composites) and he said:

"Vapor Grown CF and Carbon-Carbon are excellent but VERY costly thermoconductors of heat. Regular 2x2 "twill" CF like you see on carbon fiber hoods, including that air induction box, is not a great thermoconductor and in fact has a very similar heat capacity (gram per gram) as Aluminum. Depending on the plastic, it would probably have better thermoconduction characteristics, but in a moving car the air is not in the induction box long enough to see a difference."
