Software Upgrades

Is there anybody out there that actually understands Volvo Software Upgrades?  I have a 2007 that I asked the dealer to raise the seat temperature range from 32/38 deg C (8651383 -> 8651382)  to  36/43 deg C  (8651380 -> 8651379)  and they sold me the software and tried to install it but it 'was not allowed' because it was a west coast car and I didn't need it according to Volvo, interesting way to treat your customers.  I also inquired about updates for the car and they found these updates but couldn't tell me what they were for or how they would improve the car - 30677015 BCM,  30677018 DDM,  30677019 DEM, 30677027 PDM,  30677037 UEM  and possibly  30607738  'Total Upgrade' CAN. Does anybody know what these are and how they might affect my car????  Is there anywhere I can research these and others.  This is a GREAT car, other than the pathetic turing radius, and I want to keep it up with the software upgrades if they improve it.  Thanks for any help anybody can give me!!

generally, they won't do an upgrade just because somebody asks.  You need a complaint they can validate and then they will search for something to fix.

JRL found a hiccup at 3500rpms they refused to acknowledge.  He black boxed it and proved it.  then they came up with a patch but wouldn't offer it unless you had an issue and not everybody did.

if you enjoy the car, i would just enjoy the car imo.

<p>First of all, seat heat is an <strong>ADJUSTMENT ONLY, there is <u>no software involved</u></strong><u> </u>so if they sold you software, that's iilegal because there isn't any TO sell!</p>
<p>As for the West coast BS, that's all that is... BS.</p>
<p>What if you lived in the mountains where it snows and gets below freezing?</p>
<p>No such an animal as a "West Coast setting" For whatever reason they're lying to you and for why, what do they have to gain, nothing.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>If they insist on charging you for the VIDA adjustment, so be it, they can do that, it's 1 hour, MAX (for 15 minutes work).</p>
<p>You don't ask for a temperature, there are three seat heat settings, cooler, average and HOT or low, medium and hot, they usually come from the factory in the middle setting but it's possible that they're in the coolest setting.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>If you bring the car in for a small (or medium) service, Volvo is supposed to download all the latest software <span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>for free</strong></span>. It' s a program called <strong><u><em>"software for life"</em></u>,</strong> you may want to remind them of this.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><u>If they play dumb, call Volvo corporate and complain</u></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Where do these dealers come up with all this s*it?</p>

Mike. your site went all bizarre!
